Ok, I'm pretty new to this site, so if my question would better answered in a different forum, please let me know. At the club that I frequently shoot 100, 200, and 300yd. matches at we have a production pistol class.. I have a Thompson Center contender in 30-30 with the super 14" barrel, Weaver T36 scope, and a flat forend stock, as this was the only part not required to be factory. With the shorter barrel, 1:10 twist, and lighter (125 berger match) bullet the load has to vary from the traditional rifle loads to gain accuracy. I have heard that at one time TC published load data for all of their barrels and calibers. I cannot find the TC load data. The TC load data would be helpful or if anyone has experience they could share that would be great. Thanks.

This is probably the last forum to pose these questions...

I think you could try the general discussion forum and go from there...

Just copy your post you made here, then delete the thread... and go to the other forum and paste it in a thread there...

I don't know guys he is shooting Competition and with a Flat Forend he is most likely shooting from a bench.

Thanks

Thanks, I'll try some of the suggested places. Also, I am shooting competition from a bench with a Sinclair front rest w/ large owl ear bag (best fit for my stock) and a Protektor rear flat bag. Is this forum for strictly F-class or higher competition...cuz I do want to build a 30br rifle and am kinda hunting for a good action with .308 bolt face... XP, Hart, 40x, etc.. I am new to competitive benchrest shooting and long range pistols are really popular down here, so much that we now have the 2 classes Unrestricted and production pistol. Is competitive benchrest pistol shooting like a local thing to my area?

Bench Rest Pistols

I used the search function using the words: "Bench Rest Pistols" on the centerfire benchrest forum and a post from Sept. 2008 came up posing a similar question. There were plenty of responses and some photographs of several serious benchrest pistols.

Actually, the idea has never quite caught on over here, so at best, you will find a few guys with pistols built for benchrest and no competitions to use them in. About 10 years ago I built a pistol on a custom action by John Ilum of Rampro. I used a stock also from Rampro with a 2 1/2" wide flat bottom forend and fitted a 14" Schnieder barrel in 7mmBR. I was astonished at how well that pistol shot. At the time, I had not yet taken up Benchrest rifle, and that pistol shot better than every hunting rifle I owned. I still have it, but it hasn't been out in several years. I think the number of serious benchrest shooters is spread pretty thin and it is just too difficult to support yet another discipline.
