what commercial, used action would you consider for a
mk13 SEAL sniper copy build ?
original thru mk 6 (??) were commercial actions, but only fed 190 match ammo equivalent.
mk7 and up were stiller mk13 actions and eventually mk248 mod1 ammo with is 68k.
68k is still in the safety margin of a commercial designed for 300 win mag.
so no new actions, single shot would be nice but any specific 700 or 70 action...or ???
looking to build a new toy.

Per Wikipedia:
The MK 13 rifle is made using the Accuracy International Chassis System (AICS) version 2.0 mated to a long action Remington 700 receiver.
So, use a long action Remington 700, with a magnum bolt face.

As an FYI, the US military changed their LR load about 5 years ago. 220 grain Sierra, driven by H1000. Velocity spec is 2850 fps +/- 50 fps.

Rifle specs: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mk_13_rifle

Ammo specs: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.300_Winchester_Magnum#Military_and_law_enforcement_applications

Good luck!

yes the 220 is the mk248 mod1 ammo....
they went away from the 700 before they went to the 68k 220 load which is also 3.5 long.
all reasons i was asking...but
looks like a mag 700 is still the answer.
are there any single shot mag 700's ?

Yes.
Remington has been doing it for half a century.

A 40X single shot action is capable of ejecting a magnum case.

Bolt stop will require activation to remove a loaded round.

dan,
how about loading a 3.5" cartridge ? reg mag is 3.36 ??
i have seen the short mag 40xs, worried about loading.
thanks

You inquired in reference for a single shot.

All 40X's are short actions- rimfire, single shot or repeater.

As previously posted-

The only issue would be requiring a bolt removal to clear action of a loaded round.

Ejecting fired brass is not an issue w/ the 7mmRmag,30-06,30-338,338Ultra 40X s/shots in possession.

Loading is no different than any single shot action.

Ctg OAL is dependent on chamber/leade/freebore specifications since there is not a magazine box.

Why not use the Stiller MK-13? Seem like it would add authenticity to your build.

Oh, I see you said used in your original post. A factory Remington magnum action has a 3.600 magazine length. I don't know what the 3.360 applies to. AI mags are also 3.600. I'm pretty sure the factory MK 248-MOD1 will fit.
The factory Remington action with it's large load port and magazine cut is not nearly as stiff as most custom actions, but the rifles I have built on them, several in 7mm STW and one in 300 WM, shot very well.

I remember almost 25 years ago, our local gun shop had a new 40X on the wall in 300 Win Mag. It seemed expensive at the time.

checks in the mail
will throat it for the 220 smk at 3.5 and see how it shoots.
may rechamber or go with a new lilja/krieger/bartlien.

need to look at scopes, large targets not br targets.
