I am a complete novice to BR. I picked up a Savage-Anschutz 54 Sporter this fall and would like to acquire a rest and bags to shoot IR50 Sporter. Off my bench in the back field, I can shoot .3-.4" 5-shot groups at 50 yards with the rifle with a cheap plastic K-zone rest and CCI SV ammo. I know it can do better with a good rest, bags and match ammo.
Budget: <$500 for front rest and bags.
For the front rest I’m considering a Caldwell Rock BR Competition or possibly a Bald Eagles Rest. I am totally open to other recommendations.
Bags: What make and model bags for front and rear would you recommend? Would you go with all leather, leather with coruda center strip, or full cordura? NOTE: I have a Protektor #1 Small Owl Ear front bag I (all leather) I use for shooting my Contender pistol that may work. Other brands to consider?
Here’s a link to the Protektor bags: http://protektormodel.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1
Thank you, Keith
