Norma 201 - old vs very old

Okay, I need the help of the long-time BR shooters out there... When I got in the game in 1986, Tony, Myles, and others swore by N-201; BUT, you couldn't get it anymore... Then in the late '80's or early '90's, it was reintroduced. I know all about that powder having different formulation, etc, but my question is this - one of those lots was sold in 400-gram cans and one was sold in 500-gram cans... WHICH WAS WHICH...??? What size can was the old standby of Tony, Myles and others...???
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me...

Kent, The 500 gr. cans I have are from a 1991 lot, works ok but is slower than the earlier lots which is what your looking for;)

400-gram cans...???

George, thanks for the post here; and for your text. So in all likelihood, the cans an old BR friend of mine gave me that are marked "400-grams", are from the older lot...???

Norma201 old vs very old

That old stuff was very good The new powder is slower. They shot about 30 grs back in the 70,s
I have shot some of the new N 201 . It's very accurate but it quite a bit slower.. {less velocity"
I think the new 201 burn rate is similar to the new 8208 XBR both seem to shoot well in the 30 gr range.

Thanks, guys,...

...for the responses. Jim Carstensen, I had no idea that they made it in both sized cans at the same time! Wow... Guess the only way to figure out what I have is to chronograph each can at the same weight...

It's been a long time since I had any of the newer 201 (which I was really disappointed in, as it was a lot slower than the old). I do have several cans of the old stuff, and to look at it, it's kind of shiny. I don't recall the newer stuff being that way.
