Mirage at the Wabash Match.

Just finished the Wabash IN match and once again the mirage was so bad you could not see sighting shots on paper at 400 yards.
The 10 ring is 5/8" wide and 1 1/2" high.

What would you do to make good sighting shots?

Howdy !

The " blue haze " conditions and convective activity North Central Indiana is capable of, are certainly a real challenge.... make you " squint like Clint".

One off-the-wall thing you might try ( if you can stand it ) is: shoot while wearing one of the more exotic shades of shooting glasses.

I've heard yellow helps . I've read vermillion is the way to go.

For my circumstance ( and I lived 55yr+ in NE Indiana ) " ICONEL Mirrors " seemed to cut-out the UV component from the haze, which Indiana presents in varying shades of a delighful blue... to a debilitating
brilliant bright whitish/gray. As with mirage, you're fighting an unfavorable inter-action of temp ( ground and air ) and ambient humidity; often w/o benefit of a clearing breeze.

With good quality glasses, it won't necessarily be a cheap option, but... if you're gonna be wearing range safety glasses anywayz ....

Just a thought.
