March 40 or 50

Could I ask for some advice. The Australian distributor for March scopes, Stuart Elliott has kindly sent me a 40x and 50x march with 2/32nd dot to help me decide which scope power I would prefer. I am not able to use them in a match or visit the range in the near future and would like some feedback from shooters who have used both. The scopes will be used in 100/200 yard BR matches primarily.

Question is, 40X or 50X and what is your preferred dot size.

some qualified guys have read this post but have not responded, I will give it a try, for me the 40x is the clearest (a lot of 50 powers have sold over the years for just that reason) I may be wrong but a 40x wil be really clear at least most of them are, this comes from years of looking through both models at Kelblys every spring, take care I sure there will be others who respond Jefferson

Not supposed to bad mouth any products here so I will say I own three 10-60 Marches and I love them, they are sharp as a tack, great scopes not inexpensive but I have no regrets.
Everybody I know who has 40x Marches says they are great.
I have never had anybody tell me how impressed they were with the sharpness of their 50x , and I have several friends with them. I did have one well known Hall Of Fame shooter tell me it held POI brtter than any scope he ever owned..

I prefer the 1/16th dot for BR100/200 and I use the 40X March. I would say the 3/32 was to large, but thats my personal preference

If you wear glasses some people have had problems, so ensure you have that sorted out first.

Stuart can give you advice their as well

March used to offer only 1/8 or 1/16 moa dots. I shot a 1/16 for a while and to me it was tiny, I think this is probably why they now offer 3/32 moa. 1/16 may be great if you have young very good eyes, I just find it too small (my eyes are old like the rest of me).

I'm partial to the 50x and 1/8

I have two identical LV's - one with a 40 and one with a 50. For what it is worth I find myself using the 50 about 90% of the time. I really like the additional power at 200, but I must say that the 50 is more negatively impacted by a mirage than the 40 (as one would expect). I tried the 1/16 and it was too small for me so I went to the only other dot they had available at the time (1/8) and am now used to it. I will also add that when I ordered a scope for my HV I went with another 50.

Don't really think you can go wrong with either the 40 or the 50 at 100/200, but I would really look carefully at the dot size that works best for you. Small is great as long as your eyes can quickly pick it out --- mine won't anymore :(
