Little N50 testing

Got this pellet gun put together from the ugly parts bin for Nationals. Rotex stock, electronic action and taper lapped 6 groove barrel. 22 caliber 25.4gr monsters at 940-950. I took about 20 shots to get a rough tune and my scope zero…then this 100 shot group. Wind was about 2-6. Holding near box edge for a bunch of them. It’s a good start. 😀

They are amazing, as long as you have an air source. I shoot my TX200 far more than my centerfire rifles. My air rifle and pellets are all that are required.

Jeff…lots of options for air. I started out with a Hill hand pump. At that time I only had a 12fpe gun, and it equated to about 1 pump per shot.

Next, I bought some used 30 minute SCBA tanks for about 100$ each and the local fire department filled them for free as a public service one day per month.

Another decade later and I’ve just upgraded to my 3rd compressor. This one could be my last as it’s easily rebuildable and tops off a 88cf tank from 3000-4500 in 9 minutes. If I was smarter I would have saved myself 3000$ and bought this one first. Still…the other 2 compressors lasted 9 years and at 3000$ for both that’s only 333$ per year. Pretty cheap for something I do every day.

I love your setup . I shoot rimfire and have the same rest. I was thinking about having one built very similar to this. What would it cost to have someone build one like this? I know what the stocks are going for and barrels, I have zero clue about the other components. Absolutely amazing 100 shots. Thanks in advance. Sam

Hi Sam, pellet guns are around 4350 and slug guns are around 5000 including the die to make your slugs. Slug guns are competitive with mid to upper unlimited Rimfire and cost 2c per shot with new lead, Pellet guns are just as accurate but drift about 3-4x slug or Rimfire. Pellets are a blast, but a whole different game at 50y.

Here is a pellet and slug action
In the same stock.

Heres a card with my slug gun at the last Rimfire match.

Hi Dave, we have no export laws restricting air rifles on this side. I suspect if the proper permits are obtained, they could be imported on your side.

Here is a slug pressing video. The press uses .185” lead wire. The wire is chopped into about 5/8” long pieces and the press does the rest. I can press about 750 perfect slugs per hour. The slug is ejected from the die on the upstroke and a pusher attached to the press handle knocks the slug into a bin behind the press. Looks like I cannot post a video.
