Kids BB guns

no jackets or gloves. Everyone shoots the same equipment so as not to become an equipment race.
Don't ask how I know - but you are also not allowed spray "stickum" on your clothes or body.

Claire really got dialed in the last 6 weeks at one point shooting a 98 out of 100 in prone (hitting a bb size dot at 5 meters is a ten). On the 98 she shot nine 10's and an 8. At this point Claire can WAY out-shoot me in any position.

Sarah peaked early and never really got back into her best form before state. Her team finished 15th. It has been a great experience for both of the girls and myself as well.

The sad part - Sarah "ages out" so she can't shoot next year - unless she goes to a different class. Claire is a relative youngster - she is two years younger than most of her teammates, so she could really be a force next year and the following year. She says she wants to go back to softball.

Scott,

I am very happy for you and your girls, and likewise applaud your efforts in supporting them.

Has Sarah (or you) considered prone smallbore? We have a really good program at River Bend and there are many people there who would be glad to show her the ropes. We have had several "juniors" shoot in our matches. If you're interested, let me know and I can discuss with you when I see you Saturday.

Dave

Thanks Dave - I will see you Saturday. The only problem with smallbore is that practice time becomes an issue - With air rifle we practice in the basement.

I assure you - Sarah has been given every opportunity to continue shooting - CMP 3 position, 4-H 22 rifle team, 4-h precision air-rifle, Smallbore. She has been given her "choice" of any shooting sport she wishes. Wife wasn't real smiley about precision air rifle when i told her the rifle was $2500 but still - Sarah picks - we will be there.

Claire, on the other hand, learned yesterday that she has won a bid to the BB Gun Nationals in Kentucky in July. Looks like another two months of practices.
But the pressure is on, last year Claire won State female individual in archery and went to nationals only to crash and burn. This year she claims she is ready to redeem herself.
