Roy-Don't have an answer but if you Google 6.5-47 you will find several excellent sites. I chose a 6 Dasher-not the same, somewhat similar because I had most of the makings. Saved som $. Hope this is helpful. V/R Greg. BTW, what twist?

You will probably have your best luck with Lapua 123 and Berger 130's. The primer that works is CCI 450, and Reloder 15 consistently gives good accuracy. Others to try are Fed 205M primer and Varget and H4350 powder.

Roy:
Try the Lapua 139 gr., Reloader 17, & Wolf small rifle mag. primers. These work great in my 6.5x47.

Lefty-I found a bunch by google but can't find the head dia. What's the bolt face requirement for 6.5x47? Thanks! Greg

Greg:
Go to AccurateShooter.com They have all kinds of info on the 6.5x47 Lapua. Very useful forum. Lots of other useful info on other calibers The bolt face is somewhere in the neighborhood of .472

think you will find the 6.5-47L really is working at a sweet spot with bullets in the 120-130 grain weight range. You can go with the 120 VLD from Cauteruccio on the light end to the 130 Berger or JLK's on the high end. Velocity runs 2950 fps using either RL-15 or Varget with the 130's. The 120 VLD will run well using RL-15 and Varget too, but with a good 100 fps gain in velocity. Most common primers are the CCI450 or Wolf SRM.

If you want more velocity without stepping up to a 6.5-284 or 6.5-06, I just started playing with a 6.5-08 AI and running 130 VLD's using H4831 SC. I am using the Lapua 308 Palma brass with the small primer / small flash hole. I havent chrono'd yet, but know people are running 2950 fps with the 140's using H4831SC.
