The bench's look good to me.... They feel solid. Anyone from MI want to add anything?

New Range

Mark,

You might want to try to get in touch with Steve Robbins

I am pretty sure you have posted pictures before.
Not sure why, this time I can't view them.
I even tried my laptop.

No..

I just visited the club Sunday. This is way I don't have money. I should have stayed in the computer field back twenty five years ago.

Hey.
It works. Thanks.
Looks like a nice place.

I was talking to Steve Robbins about this place.
Has some good benches, middle of the state,.....I can't remember the other problems. Prolly, can't find someone to run the matches.
Oh, I see a problem. Only right handed benches.

That's already taken care of. ;)

Nice range! Benches are a little close but other than that it should work out fine. There are two matches scheduled this year (what I heard from Steve), once the format and dates are figured out we'll post the particulars.

First match will be in May, a dual score/group match at different yardages.

That range also goes out to 300 yards if Im not mistaken. I do remember getting lost last year and couldnt find it. Lets just say I am never going to listen to Tom Tom ever again. He took me way on the other side of the state.

We had an inaugual one-day match there in 2009....

.... which Steve Robbins ran with the help of Dick and Gloria Wright and the club locals. It was a 200- and 300-yard "honors" group match which was won by Lowell Hottenstein.

The range is really very nice and does go out to 300-yards. They didn't have backers last year and I don't remember if there were plans to put them in place. But, Steve made it clear that the local club members wanted to try and get something going there in 2010 from a benchrest match perspective.

We are truly lucky here in Michigan to have so many wonderful places to shoot benchrest and so many good, hard-working shooters who are trying to make the sport grow.

I plan on attending whatever match that Lake Isabella puts on in 2010 and thereafter.

Mark,

The first 2010 match at the Isabella County Sportsmans Club is May 8th. There will be a benchrest class and a class for factory rifles. Several club members want to try their hand at benchrest shooting.

The first match, held last fall, was a success and featured the attendance of several benchrest luminaries such as Kroop, the Hottensteins and Kim Sauter and her husband, Whats'sname.

Steve found that if you shoot 300 yards you don't much need a moving backer system.

This is one of the few clubs that seem to be well financed. There are lots of concrete benches on three different ranges. The benches were originally not so user friendly but Steve has had that corrected long ago.

If anyone has a problem with directions, call me... It's easy to find the range with good directions.

Dick
