Insight for a noob with a 30-30 lever action?

I toss brass when it gives problems or shows me something I dont like. I inspect each individual case as I am reloading. If something is suspect I toss it. I start with a batch of 50, when I get to about 35 left, I toss the lot and start over. I have gotten as many as 17 firings on a set of cases before. you can anneal them and stretch the life much longer but it takes a special expertise or tool, that few have. I always trim to the manual specified length and keep an eye on it, ie I measure a few everytime I sit down to load, trim if they need it. How many firings you get will vary based on the cartridge. If you are crimping this will be vastly more important.
