I guess we won't be shooting machined pellets anytime soon

I got a quote from a machine shop that specializes in machining lead products. I sent them plans for a pellet, they said they could hold tolerances as close as .0001".
If I wanted just 100 pellets it would cost $5700. 10,000 pellets would be $52,500. Anyone want me to order some for you?

So Dan, that is $570 per pellet

decisions, decisions, 4 pellets or a new target rifle, I will get back to you.......

Plus, doesn't it say something somewhere in the rules about quantity minimums making this deal even more attractive: something like the pellet manufacturer has to produce somewhere in the millions per year? Now I think we're getting down to the real nuts and bolts of the deal: 1,000,000 pellets for somewhere around ±5 and a quarter million dollars, and with no guarantees they will shoot any better than those we buy for 10 bucks a tin? But hey, it's only money and you can't take it with you, so why not?

Actually it's $57 per pellet. Still no bargain. Even at $.57 it would make the price of Eley Tenex look cheap. I'm guessing there won't be much demand for those pellets.

I was hoping to get them between 10 and 20 cents apiece, oh well. At least I'm making progress on a head sorting method that is fast and should be the most accurate available.
