HVA (Husqvarna) action

Acquired an HVA action made by Zoli in Italy recently, and built a 6.5 x 55 Swede on it. Very smooth bolt operation and pretty handsome too.
The supplier (Mcgowen Barrel Co.) has no more, and info on where they might be available seems non existent. Zoli's website in Italy is no help, as they seem entirely taken up with shotguns. The importer was a company called AGC whose initials are on the side of the action doesn,t seem to exist either. Someone said they were located in Connecticut ???
I would like to buy another of these actions. If anyone out there could contribute any info re same, I would be grateful Rich Q

May I get some details on the action sir?

Diameter? Length? 3-lug vs 2-lug? etc?

Thanks so much sir.

HVA Dimensions

jbhotrod,
This is a copy of the Husqvarna 6000/8000 series from Finland, that is/was made in Italy reportedly by Zoli.
It is 1.3 diameter, 8 7/8" long, 7 13/16" between action screws. The two lug bolt has pie shaped lugs with the right lug having a small projection on it's lower side that rides in a slot in the reciever making the bolt very stable and smooth.
I would be just as happy to buy an original 6000/8000, marketed here as the Carl Gustav Rifle if one were available. Thanks for your interest.

HVA Sweden

The production in Sweden phased out in 1975. approx 125,000 rifles were made. They were marketed in the US till 1977.

The reason I asked was that back in the early 60's I put togather a custom .257 roberts on a HVA action that I aquired from Flaigs Lodge that was nearly a dead ringer to the Swede military rifle actions. They were a small ring mauser with out the inner safety breeching of a 98 mauser. Made into a nice light gun.

Inner safety breeching ???

I'm not familiar with the term Inner Safety Breeching, Can you explain it to me. The action IS based on the smaller Mauser '94/'96 and does make a nice light rifle. Rich

The 98 has an inner ring that is head spaced off of along with the front of the receiver. In fact you can head space off the inner ring with out any contact between the front of the receiver and the barrel shoulder. Not the recommended way,but it will work. Because of that feature, material being equal, the mod.98/FN style are considered superior in design to the earlier military actions.

Inner shoulder would be a better description. Also if memory serves me correctly I think there is a safety lug on the back end of the bolt body.

There was a safety lug on the Husqvarna too, at least there was on mine, which makes the description of a modded 96 a tad challenging. Let's just call it a commercial hybrid.

A few years ago an HVA commercial actioned gun followed me home. It was a Sears "Ted Williams" gun in 30-06, which I rebarreled in 6.5x55. After all a Swede should be in a Swede caliber.

There are differences between the HVA trigger & standard 98 or 96 triggers, so that they would not fit & function properly. The solution was to move the trigger pivot pin a bit on the stock trigger to get more leverage and lighten the pull.

Regards,
Ron

inner breeching

Martin, thanks for your input, as it turns out I AM familiar with the second ring in the 98 action, was just confused by the term. Rich
