If you are in fact interested in the science behind the scopes we use, I have attached an article I originally did primarily to help those shooters making the transition from low power short range hunting scopes to high power scopes for long range hunting or target work. While much of it may seem to be overly simplistic for this site, it does provide an introduction to two key concepts, diffraction limited resolution and match magnification, that are basic to understanding the science behind optimal selection and use of high magnification scopes. This may also assist in understanding and applying the data from my other article attachment on scope comparisons earlier in this thread.
