Has anyone heard from Pat Byrne

Well, it's 9:30 PM Tuesday, it looks like Harvey has moved on to cause someone else grief.

We just saw on the news that the San Jacinto River is over the bridge at IH-10 east.

Maybe the water will recede enough so we can get to the Shop in the morning and see if we have much damage.

I'm hoping for the best.

Glad to see you made it OK. Hopefully your shop did too. How is it situated in relation to where you think the water got there?

Hope to see you in St Louis. If we can help just holler.

Jackie, how high is your shop above the Gulf. I'd guess with your business that you are normally located next to the water. For now, I guess everyone in Houston is located next to the water. Hoping and praying for the best for you and your family when you can finally get to the shop. Glad that you are alright now though.

Hopefully all is still well not hearing back from Jackie has been very concerning.

Sorry I haven't given a short report as of late. It's been a tad hectic.

My business is fine. We are not located by the Ship Channel. We are miles from it. We did not even get Any water in our buildings.

Four of our eleven employees had significant damage from flooding. All four have flood insurance.

I do have a little personal consequence from the storm. My daughter and her husband are flooded out, so they are living in my Motor Home untill they can get the place cleaned up enough to live in. I also have two elderly women who got flooded out living with us as well. They are waiting on FEMA to acquire them housing.

So I am cancelling my trip to The Nationals in Saint Louis. There is just no way I can leave for 9 days with all that is going on, not only in my personal life but in my business as well.

Jackie, you have to do what you have to do. Taking care of your family and that your family is OK is more important than a trip to the Nationals. There will always be another Nationals. Hopefully, no more hurricanes in Houston for a long long time. Glad that your machinery and shop are safe and sound. I imagine that those big lathes that you use are just about irreplacable anymore. I've seen on tv some of the damage and what people are doing to work on their houses once the flooding goes down. Stripping sheetrock and insulation out to the studs, scrapping funiture and just about everything in the house. Basically the same as finishing a new house from the framed standing walls. It will take lots of time to rebuild especially with the massive number of people who will be in the same position.

I can't imagine the amount of trash this disaster will produce. You have to feel for the folks going through this difficult time.

That much trash, just haul it off. With that much where is off??

A really sad thing here is most of that "trash", and it has to be replaced, was not insured.

Sad.

Dave, they have opened up some streets that have been blocked. Here is a picture of a typical scene you will see throughout the Houston Metro area. This is a Addition they built off of Normandy about a mile from my house a few years back, this neighborhood has about 75 houses on it, all valued at $300,000+.

They are being gutted.
