Hi all,
Heard tonight that Ferris is not doing well at all, and knowing what a
huge part of the benchrest community they always were, Lou wanted to
let you know in case anyone wanted to reach out to Junie & Ferris. We
understand he was brought home from the hospital today but we were
told things are looking quite serious.
For any of you who've enjoyed shooting the PPC over the years, I am sure a card or call would be appreciated....
regards,
Patti Palmisano

I talked to Ferris's nephew last night, Dr. Steve Davis DD, and Ferris is back in a nursing home. While it seems that Ferris's body is in good condition his mind has slipped further.

We have all benefited from Ferris's being an important part of benchrest.

Ferris's wife June, who has cared for and supported him lovingly in these last years, needs our support now also.

When you think of ferris people remember the ppc' He was really noted as a die maker for sierra bullets ' His dies were some of the finest Made' I'm lucky enough to have a set
He had a small business making dies I have a receipt for mine also.
Over all a great shot nice person. I hope he does better soon. Those nursing homes have a lot to be desired.

That is terrible news

The best week of my life was when Skip Gordon introduced me to Ferris at the NBRSA Nationals in 1977 at Kelblys.

Ferris found out I liked to play pool and invited me to come and stay with him in Connorsville.

I spent a week there. He taught me to chamber barrels, make bullet bullet dies, and play much better pool.

I will pray for him, he is a true gentleman,.

Ferris is my great Uncle. He is an amazing person! He really is not doing well at all now. I saw him this weekend and he was having a rough time. Prayers are appreciated for him and June!

Prayers are sent. I met Ferris P and Dr. Lou p. at a range named the Winchester shooting range in Englishtown, N.J. around 1976-77 along with Skip Gordon. They were playing around with some Russian brass in.22 and 6mm cal. Which is now known as the 6ppc. They saw i was having a problem sighting in my 6mmRem BDL Varmint rifle and stopped what they were doing to help me out. I still have the steel bore guide which looks like a 700 bolt and a Parker Hale cleaning rod that i purchased from them at the range.

To Ferris Pindell and family,
I want to send my hope and prayers to a truely Good Man, one I admire. When I came to benchrest, I contacted
Ferris and was never disapointed. He then literaly spent hours with me explaining things. I would call a couple times
a week and he would talk to me for hours, explaining details and answering my questions. Not everyone can explain
small details, but he did. Having used hundreds of hours of his time, I can say his patience was astounding. He once
told me that its possible to work closer than the capability of a machine. Now I was lost, and had to go to school
to understand that. Twenty plus years later, I was amazed, he was right. Jackie, 4mesh and others here will understand
that. Ferris has always been an ambassidor to Benchrest and a complete Gentleman.

Lou's heart is broken today at the passing of Ferris..... our thoughts and prayers are with Junie and his family....

The benchrest and shooting world is truely diminished today....God Bless you Ferris, may you rest in peace.

I wish to express my sadness at the passing of Ferris. He was a great innovator and master craftsman. His time on earth was too short for someone with so much to give. He is either wildcatting with God or giving Satan lectures on machining; come to think of it given Ferris' gifts, probably both. Tim

Our condolences to his entire family.
It was one of my highlights to have met Ferris at WBC8 and a couple of times since, his innovations and contributions to our sport, Benchrest and shooting are enormous, he will never be forgotten......we are truly diminished.

So sad to hear of the passing of Ferris. June lost a husband, and we all lost a great man, not just because of benchrest, but for the wonderful and talented man he was. We are truly diminished.

May Lord embraces him in paradise & may his spirits will always be with us!
I had a chance to talk with Mr. Pindell at the Supershoot several years ago, although it was just a few minutes between relays I found him to be a very nice & trully friendly gentlemen. I still remember he was a bit surprise when he knew that I came from Indonesia. His smile & smilling face is never forgotten.
My deepest condolences,
Sebastian.

Patti:

I met Ferris in Knoxville, Tenn. at a BR match in the eary 70's -- prior to the Super Shoots and the PPC. I even remember some discussion about that subject while listening in the background when all the Saints of the BR game talked. After that meeting, I had Ferris build me two BR guns: a tight neck .222 and a 6x47 switch barrel rigs. In 2002, Ferris put his mind to work for 22 straight days in the shop to develop a meplat closing die for my 1000 yd rigs.

Ferris had the energy of a 14 year old. He loved the game and his customers. We would spend hours talking long distance about technical issues, bullets, barrels, dies and the game. We exchanged letters and cards, and I will always hold those memories close.

As great as Ferris was as a man and as the best tool and die man on this planet, June was his equal. She was always by his side and always so very friendly. I can hear her now: "Ferris, Jim Hardy is on the line."

I also had many converesations with Ferris regarding his macular degeneration and I would encourage him with words and updats on certain vitamins etc. for that terrible eye condition. As the years went on, I also developed macular degeneration but never told Ferris as I feared it would upset him -- he cared so much for his friends and customers. My big regret is that life and business got in the way of my calling Ferris the last couple of years although I thought of him often. Friends, don't let time get away -- tell those you care about how much you love them every chance you have.

As I write this, I hold in my hand a letter from Ferris dated December 16, 2002. After his final success on perfecting my meplat closing die, a one-off mini lathe for meplat work, and some special fixtures for the lathe he wrote: "In my over 60 years in the bench rest game, I have found the following to be true. Accuracy is the result of a multitude of tremendous triffles." Oh, so true.

God bless Ferris Pindell as there will NEVER be another. Ferris was my friend, I was his customer, and he was a beloved client as well. I am absolutely diminished by his passing. He is absent from the body but present with the Lord.

My deepest condolences to June and Ferris' family and friends.

Jim Hardy
