i'll start

some people have grown old by age 30,
others have not grown up by 60 but still enjoying life.

I was always told you have no choice about growing old but you do have a choice about growing up.

I get a lot of folks ask me very seriously "Why do you shoot?"

"What's the fun of poking holes in paper?" (I've also been asked "why do you fish?" .... etc)

and "Those guns cost WHAT??? Why we could feed fifty street people with that money!!"

These people are "grownups" ;) who've "put away childish things"

I'll never be. I LOVE Jackie's car thread....

The following is not mine. It was penned by a conflicted and bitter man, but a man wise enough to recognize what he wanted. And that stands for something :) it is form of honesty, the only human attribute to which I attach value. Kids are honest, until "adulthood" teaches them to lie....... Hunter was a mess, but he was honest! And for some odd reason, he loved shooting. And was just bright enough not to ask "why?"

It's on the wall in my loading room.

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”

If most every day, you can help someone smile, help someone laugh, help them feel better about themselves, you will feel better too and while you won't stop getting older, you will enjoy the journey more.

The unexpected kindnesses are the most appreciated.

My one Grandpa, a Norwegian always said "Too Soon Old't, Too Late Smard't"......

My other Grandpa said "There's No Fool Like An Old Fool!"

I'm finally old enough to be comfortable with the fact that old don't automatically mean smart :)

That reminds me of the following; it was attributed to an old Chinese proverb -- Do you know how to tell if a man is honest? You ask him, and if he says he is, you know he's not.

The hardest

part I am finding at the age of 53, in the last 2 years it feels as if a switch was turned on. The aches I have after driving for a length of time, or when I crawl out of bed. I have a left knee that is giving me issues. I need bifocals but refuse to get them.

Augh........

I have always felt enjoy life while you can. I say my knee issue is because of working for the telephone company for 35 years. Either on my knees fixing a phone jack, climbing ladders or poles with my belt and spurs. Yet I have not even come close to the climbing a hydro lineman may.

Mentally though I am 18. I love to have a great laugh, enjoy a drink or 2, love Disney and Disney animation and my girl between the sheets.

The body hurts but the mind is sound......LOL

it's probably just the COLD !

I dunno..... it took me 20yrs to figger out that WA is "colder" than MN. I've seen -52F (-46C) and played outside in socks at 30 below..... but this West Coast cold sneaks up on your body worser than real cold IME. In the really cold country you do something about it, you cain't just tough it out....you'll die.

According to my Hunter Ed stats death from exposure is more prevalent here (OR/WA/CA) than anywhere else, and manalive, you don't learn early to conserve heat BEFORE it hurts??? You pay.

Still not like the sticky states tho....My kid brother left here to move to the Deep South and his aches and pains are much better. Me, I've been dealing with a rotator cuff for going on 2mo now and it's getting old. I ain't whining, just noting that "yup, it's harder to bounce now." I more like just splat....

I'm sure there with Calvin on the laffs tho...... laughter IS the best medicine!

Happy Happy Happy

still got all my hairs though, i think even MORE hairs..... just, they don't grow much on my head anymore.....so I shave it off, my 2nd defense against The Dorkside. Bald head, sweats and a sawed off shirt, weeds out at least 50% of them at first glance :)
