Greenlaw Front Rest

Im just getting into BR shooting and in the process of having a 6BR smithed by Mike Davis. I have pretty much everything to get me started except a rest. I have been looking for a couple months now and would love a SEB or Farley but my budget will not allow it right now. I have come across the Greenlaw rest and for the price it looks very promissing. Any thoughts, this is in the top end of my budget right now so if its good to go I will probably order one in the next week or so. Thanks for the input.

Looks like a great rest, but my first though was that it looks pretty tall. Nothing worse than a front rest that just wont go low enough. Maybe it isnt though!! Money back Guarantee. Cant beat that with a stick!! Lee

It says 5" from bench to the bag, how does this compare with other rests?

Thats probably not to bad!! Give it a go, and let us know what you think. How much is he getting for one? Lee

If you are on a budget but looking for a good rest at a great price get in touch with Joe Cowan at cowanhaus@verizon.net he builds or I should say his students build rests as a class project and the quality and price simply cannot be beat. Plus you are supporting a great cause.

Dick

below link will take you to some photos and details I am not sire the price is current but knowing Joe it has not gone up much if any.

I emailed him a couple times a month or so back and never got a responce so figured he was just tied up busy. I did quite a bit research on what he does and I think its a cool thing. I guess I can try to email him once more.

You said you would have a seb or farley but your budget does not allow.
Try looking at the Shade Tree.
Less than 400. And a good rest.

Problem with a Shade Tree is the fellow needs a rest, $375 for a Shade Tree gets you a coaxial top. Then $150 to Ron Hoehn gets you a Hart base and puts the total at $525 plus shipping. Still not a bad price for a pretty decent rest but maybe more than his budget allows.

Thanks for the help guys. I ended up calling Mr Greenlaw and talking to him today and decided to go that route. I ended up with the Style B instead of the E and he was very willing to add a couple options I wanted and the price is hard to beat with the amount of customer service he has. I think this is the best rest for me now, once I decide to shoot competitions I might up grade to a coaxial stlye rest but this should serve me well and assist me in learing more about BR shooting. Thanks again.

Coax rests are not for everybody, do not worry a bit about not starting out with one.

Yeah. I heard he is a hard man to get a hold of. I would wait to hear back from him but I found out my rifle would be ready before I was originally told so I wanted to have a rest waiting on it. Thanks for your help with trying to contact him. If you do hear from him please let me know, I have a buddy looking into purchasing a new rest as well.

If I had not chosen to go with the shadetree Grenlaw was the one I was going to buy.
Good choice.
Dick I got a Hart base for 70 but you can also use the caldwell bases with the shade tree. Work just as well as the others since its only a heavy bottom you have to worry about and they are cheap.

I ordered a Greenlaw "E" rest with the adjustable width top. Took him 4 week to build and deliver. I added aluminum knobs instead of the standard plastic on the leg adjustments. He is very willing to make any custom upgrades you would like. Got it in last week and will use it for the first time this Sunday. It cost a total delivered of $541.79 and from what I can tell is very well made. I think you will be very happy with what you receive from Dan.

Good Luck, Paul

I have a joe cowan rest on order and it wont be here until some time in November. I placed the order in January, so you can clearly see that joe is very busy and if anyone is in need of a rest quickly this wont be a option. I cant wait to get my rest though. For the price they seem like a heck of a deal. I am going to use mine for the 6ppc group shooting, and my farley for the score shoots. Thats the plan anyway. Thanks for the pics!! Lee
