Freebore in a RUM

I am having my 7mm RUM Sendero rebarreled in 300 RUM. I have purchased a stainless fluted Krieger barrel in 10-twist in Rem. Varmint contour. It will be about 28 inches after it is chambered and crowned.

My question to you guys is that my gunsmith says that the 300 RUM should be chambered so that it has some freebore. I am mostly a smaller caliber centerfire shooter, PPC, BR and the like. I always seat my bullets into the lands. I'd just like some confirmation that my smith is right in that my new barrel should be chambered with some built in freebore. What is your opinion?

Gary,

If you are using it with a magazine the best bet is to make up some dummy rounds with the bullets you want to use so they fit in the mag...them send them off to your gunsmith and let him throat it to suit.
