With my farther now having to live in a nursing home I have begun to go through some of his junk. I found two boxes of nickel plated .243 brass with the head stamp .234win FC Lovelock. Does any one know who this company is ? and do they still exist ?

Very curious to know more and what other products they might have made.

Andy.

i am not sure what message content you recieved. but to try again.

from memory,in the 1970's and probably early 80"??? in australia, FC Lovelock were responsible for distribution of a variety of shooting and non shooting goods and services.

these included dupont powders, cci and speer products and shilen barrels, actions, accessories and complete rifles etc.

i do not know if they operated internationally or if the FC Lovelock you refer to is an unrelated organisation.

just thought i would mention this information, in case it is of some help to your question.

additional pm sent

cheers

That rings a bell

I was talking to another shooter yesterday who mentioned that FC Lovelock used to be the suppliers of DuPont IMR powders. Those powders he said became unavailable just after the F C Lovelock company closed down. That was around the mid 80's.

In fact the only powders that seem available in Oz now are ADI, Win, Alliant and Vhit. In the usa there seems to be a far greater variety.

On the subject of these 243 cases they weigh about 16gn heavier than the Federal or remington cases. I don't think the nickel plating could add that much weight. They must just be thicker walled. I miked the neck thickness and it explains why Dad had to turn so much brass off to fit the chamber.

Thanks for the input
Andy.
