East-West

I heard that Tony won the two-gun....what a surprise!

A friend called and said that Tony won the 2-gun. That was all that he knew for sure. He thought Gene Bukys won one of the grands, but didn't remember the other. Good shooting Tony.......James

east west

I had to get home as the wife wasnt feeling well so i didnt get to see the final outcome. Ron Hoene shot really well, and i got my Butt kicked!!! LOL!! I learned a few things, and had a great time. it was hot, and it rained really hard today for a bit. Some of the shooters were stating that todays conditions were some of the worst they had ever seen. All in all it was a great experience, and i made some new friends. oh did i mention it was hot, and that i got my butt kicked!! Lee

I snapped a pic of the finals for LV and HV. Sorry for the poor quality.

The 2-gun wasn't posted, but I believe it was:

1)Tony Boyer
2)Gene Bukys
3)Chris Harris

Maybe Ron will post everything soon. I'm sure he is still pretty busy.

Is this the best our sport can do?

The East/West is one of the largest shoots held each year. It is one of only 5 World Team Qualifying Matches this year. Many of the finest shooters on the planet participated and the best we can do for a report is a couple of out-of-focus photos of the LV and HV results and a guess at the 2-Gun winners - no offense Jerry W. This post is falling quickly to the bottom of the page and being replaced by posts on upcoming shoots. No wonder folks lose interest.

Am I expecting to much for the complete results to be posted the day after the match? As we all know, many shooters aren't traveling as much because of the economy. Even though some may not have been able to attend the East/West this year, they are still very interested. IMHO, providing a timely report on BRC helps to keep interest in our sport alive and possibly motivate some to attend next year.

By the time a report is printed in the NBRSA News, months have passed and interest is gone.

Just my 2-cents.

Clubs only interest is your MONEY. Do they care about posting results? NO. Do I care if they don't post? NO. I've grown used to the status Que. Not being negative, Just stating facts. Most all ranges put on great matches and deserve ever dollar they get. Keep up the good work. If you want the results ..Attend the matches...

On both of these pages, the shooters are ranked in order of their 200 yard finish. The grand is listed for each class, but the placings aren't in order. It makes it a little more difficult to see the placings in the grand, but at least you can from the photos of the match reports. I agree that by the time that the match reports appear in the NBRSA News that they are old news, but not nearly as old news as it was in the past. How quickly a match report shows up in the NBRSA News has a great deal to do with how quickly the match director gets the match report to Cross Printing. Getting a match report listed on the internet is probably a pretty low priority of the match director with all the other responsibilities that he has with the match at the time that it's going on and taking care of things after it's over. It's nice when a match report shows up in the mail to the competitors that were there in the next week or so. It's also nice when it shows up on benchrest.com before it shows up in the mail.

I'm sure Ron will post the full result within a couple of days. Right now he's probably busy mailing out match reports to the guys that participated. First things first. He puts on a first class match.

JDS:

Maybe this is how things are in your neck of the woods - not mine. I have always felt that the match directors where I shoot are very interested in holding quality matches and growing the sport. If I take your viewpoint on things, then I can only conclude that the NBRSA, regional directors and match directors do not want me to show any interest in events that I don't or can't attend. I believe the more information we can share about our sport in a timely manner, the better opportunity we have to keep folks actively interested in benchrest.

Jerry:

I'm absolutely confident that you are correct about Ron and the matches he puts on in St. Louis - I hear nothing but good things from the folks that have shot there over the years. I had simply hoped he could assign someone in his region/area/club to post copies of the match report on BRC so we could all enjoy the final results. I don't know about anyone else; however, I had several friends shooting the East/West and really wanted to know how they faired compared to everyone else. I've posted match results for Gary Ocock on occasion and it takes less than 5 minutes. Sometimes, I think match directors try and do too much themselves. A little delegation can go a long way.

Just my 2-cents.

It's amazing that anyone hardcopy prints a news letter at all given the cost and timeliness of that media relative to the electronic communications that are available. There must be a good reason for stagnating the sport to the 80's but I'm not sure what it would be.

Jerry Welker, (Or anyone else that can post results),
Please give me your fax number. I can fax you the complete results, and if you would be so kind, you could post them here on BR Central.
(I don't know how to do it!)
Thanks,
Ron

Ron, I'd be glad to post them if you'd like. My fax number is 806-826-5618. It's the same as my shop number I'll just have to put the fax machine on auto receive.
