'dobe Walls......

I was there in the late 90's....

During a PD trip, to the Texas high plains, we made a slight detour to Adobe Walls.

Interesting place, although a bit stark. You do get a real grasp of the terrain and distances involved.

There's a monument......and I've some old pictures, somewhere, I took before leaving.

Sharps 50/90

Billy Dixon used a Sharps 50/90 .....this is my Sharps 50/90 and I hope to shoot it out to 1000 yards someday and hunt a Bison with it. It shoot a 500 grain cast bullet very well at 100 yards!

For those interested, probably the best book ever written about the elimination of the buffalo is “ The Great Buffalo Hunt” by Wayne Gard, 1951. Long out of print but usually easy to get in paperback.
For some time I shot a C Sharps 45-100-550, shot 1F under a 500 grain Patched slug……lotsa smoke.
Nice rig Todd.

I have a copy of the autobiography of Billy Dixon. What is really surprising is how little space the Billy Dixon shot with his Sharps takes up in the book. About a paragraph is all.
