The Colorado Rifle Club 1000 yard benchrest series hosted a 3 day Money Shoot on August 31st thru September 2nd as its season finale. The match was blessed with typical Colorado weather: hot with tricky winds. Match director Jim Brummerstedt reported:
"Remember the Wind is your friend!
That's what we told our friends from Louisiana Nancy and Henry Childs and from Minnesota Kelly and Gordy Mitchell. Nancy and Henry left in time to miss the hurricane but kept in touch to find everything was fine at home. Kelly and Gordy missed the cool temps in Minnesota but found out what it is like to bask in the semi desert of Colorado with 90 plus temps.
We not only had the heat to contend with we had tricky conditions the first two days with gusts up to 35MPH where only the best survived. It did not take the competitors long to realize shooting in these conditions is a far cry from shooting at other ranges in a valley with trees on both sides which is like shooting in a tunnel. No luck here just skill! Sunday we gave everyone a break and turned on the AC and the fans off for calm conditions.
For those who read the conditions the best all three days came out on top when the prize money was given out which ranged from $250 to $95. Congratulations to all!
