Good for shooting?

Bad for shooting?

Good for survival?

Good for survival of those around you?

When I was in college I did a controlled experiment for a science class using controlled amounts of caffeine in a blind test! It did not help my groupings! :D

Good for shooting?
Fine, if you’re shooting from the bench.

Bad for shooting?
Yes, if you’re upright or shooting “Bullseye”.

Good for survival?
Mandatory in my case.

Good for survival of those around you?
Same answer as above.

This may be a vary controversial subject, I'm only for it (Coffee) in the mornings. Other wise without it the chances of walking in the wrong direction from the firing line are just to high.:(

I only drink it.....

.....when I need a lift. Mornings a cup or two and mid day an ice coffee if needed.....those are pretty good.

I don't HAVE to have it and when I go to the ranch or fishing, just as happy w/ a coke or red bull for the pick me up in the AM's.

Kaupphy

has been known to make one jervous and nerky. If one is a tight holder as in National Match or hard holder F, or Bench, Gator Aide and water only. As a professional pilot, however, when it is 0500 and you have been at it all night and it is time to bring the aluminum overcast down in some semblence of smoothness, pile on the java!! ;););) Overbore

Aberration

I must be an abberation, as where I worked in an an OR, we kept coffee brewing all day, and people walked around between cases drinking the stuff, and I never developed a taste for it. Sure smells good though, Rusty in Ga

There are two kinds of people in the world. People that drink coffee and people that have some really serious issues. Hooray for Folger's 100% Columbian, black, of course. Drinks that contain the word "latte" are not coffee. ;)

Without Coffee, I would,

1. Be in the brig for falling asleep on watch.

2. Not have finished college.

3. Had some pretty horrendous car wrecks.

4. Been fired from work a myriad of times.

5. Not be typing this. :D

Coffee/caffeine

My feeling is that it depends very much on the individual. When I first began to shoot pistol competition seriously (a very long time ago), I gave up caffeine (for a while, and VERY reluctantly) to see if that would help steady my hold. When my scores were consistently up in the Master class range, I gave thanks and took to the magic elixir again, without any noticeable negative effects on my scores. Some of my German friends were in the habit of taking a glass of wine or a beer before shooting (Zielwasser/target water) to relax them and steady their nerves, they said - I tried it and it most definitely did NOT work for me.
Let me be frank: I'm a commited coffee drinker (but only since age 6), and can't imagine how I'd have got through this far without the stuff. I'll admit that 60 years of fair (and otherwise) wear and tear have had their effect, that my eyesight is not as good as it was, and that some days I don't feel just great, but I still feel better with the vitamin C (caffeine) than without it, and don't plan to give it up. My scores are still Master class, my nerves are fine and my bloodpressure is good, too. Until further notice, I'm sticking with what works for me!

Mmmmmmmmmmm....

Tim Hortons. I am definately an ADDICT. 2 in the AM and 1 in the PM during the week. Full pot at home on the weekends.

Well, I'd only pretty much been exposed to Bad Coffee before a few years ago...

Instant stuff, or pre-ground stale stuff. Not to mention Army mess hall coffee. Well, it worked, but there was something lacking - flavor.

Then I discovered Hawaiian beans and grinding it as you use it.

And I also own an espresso dealie - excellent for those times when you just have to have something that'll jumpstart a corpse.

I must be the odd man out. I do love coffee....in the winter time. I'll drink several cups a day if it's cold outside. When it's hot outside when I roll out of bed, coffee just doesn't do it. Makes me hotter.

Therefore, I've found the same kickstart in Mountain Dew. I can drink one of those and get the same effects. When everyone else runs to the coffee pot, I'm running to the pepsi machine. Twelve ounces of ice cold dew on a hot day will cool you off and calm the nerves. Helps me think straight. I buy them by the cube for the fridge at the house.

It's 91 outside right now, the coolest day we've had at this time in over a week. Just came in from the shop, and yes, it's dew time..........:D

Drink four cups a day, two in the morning and two in the evening. Keeps me out of a 'natural coma', so for me, I will have some whenever.

For me, I find the pre-grind stuff makes my hands a little unsteady and I feel like I'm on the old time truck drivers medication (the ones with the religious symbol, the cross). I don't drink it at all.

The do it yourself grind works for me. No ill effects, just puts a smile on these old lips.

We had our general discussion forum wiped and censored so that now all we can talk about is Coffee? Maybe the next forum topic can be about tea and crumpets. There has not been a time in the history of the US that frank and fervent discussions of political topics has been in greater need.

What does Benchrest Central do? They resort to censorship of speech.

To HELL with the Second Amendment, if even forums devoted to a shooting sport resort to censorship of political speech.

The HELL with Coffee, The Hell with the First Amendment, The Hell with the Second Amendment, The Hell with shooting sports in general.

Could this be an indication you've had a little to much coffee? Try humming Cum bi ya while posting, it takes the edge off.

Coffee and shooting

I shoot mostly off hand 22 RF Silhouette. I have found that out of 40 possible points (animals) I gain 3-4 points by not drinking coffee for a week prior to an important Match. Scores have gone up consistently when I stay off coffee for at least a week prior to offhand shooting.

On the other hand, when I shoot action pistol, scores get better with coffee - guess the jitters help with speed shooting.

I really enjoy coffee and am having a real time with not drinking it of late.

Don't hold back, Crusader, tell us how you feel. Just let it out, big fellow. :D

coffee oh yeah!

Colombo yes, 24cups a day, everyday for at least 20yrs, along with a good smoke, i've cut back recently to 18cups per day. I believe I'd give it up though if it were'nt for the good smoke.
