Hey everyone question about cleaning rods.
I was cleaning my 20BR on the tailgate of my truck ( less smell in the house) and I bent my Dewey rod, I guess a tight patch? Couldn't pull it or push it.
started cleaning up the mess and noticed the rod was bent and in more than one place.
Road 75 mi. north to a well known shooting supply place and told the man at the counter What had happened and that I wanted another Dewey cleaning rod. He brought one out and it was uncoated. I made a remark and he said wait a minute he brought his out to show me and it was uncoated. He says that shoots Bench Rest and he uses a uncoated rod.
What are all of your opinions? Coated or uncoated rods?
This bugs me, I only have 302 rds. through the rifle and don't want to shorten
it's life.
