It was 104 degrees in the shade and Charles Ballard was shooting his custom .284. Charles shoots a 200 with 13 Xs at 1000yards. This will be a new F-Class open record.

GREAT SHOOTING CHARLES

New F-Class Record

Nate:

Charles was the right man, at the right time, with top-shelf equipment, shooting a 284 that was inside of everything else on the line. He paid his dues and came to Butner with a purpose. Charles picked up on the fact that the prevailing condition would not hurt his 180 Bergers and he avoided the letoffs. Great job in the heat.
Congrats Charles,
Jim

used was???? Many thanks, Overbore and congrats on the championship shooting !!!

Sorry for the late response, I just joined this site to find the answer to another question of mine. To answer your question, I used a .284 built by Precision Riflel & Tool LLC.precisionriflesales.com. I was shooting the 180 grain Bergers.

Thanks,Charles BAllard

WOW... I'm in awe of your accomplishment...

funny thing is, I only shoot for recreational enjoyment, & like playing with "obsolete" cartridges ( to the average rifle shooter... the 284 is obsolete )... I'm an average rifle shooter

I was / am doing research right now to restore a 60's bench gun in 284 Winchester... on a custom 98 Mauser currently chambered in 30-06...

I have my own personal range, so I don't get out into the shooting public too often, but shoot at 300 yards regularly, & can shoot to 1200 yards in the spring & fall ( when the crops are out )

I read the artical on 6br... incredible

I'm probably a bit too old to teach any new tricks, but would sure take any advice you guys would want to give an old dude thinking about restoring an old rifle in 284 "long"
