built new parts for my Thomas

So this story is long but I’ll shorten it the best that I can. A couple years ago I got into shooting pellet rifles for Benchrest competition. I had a friend that bought a number of European PCP rifles on his “buy and try, burn and learn” philosophy. I had always been a better shot and better competitor than he but we both had love for the sport. At that point I hadn’t purchased any PCPs, but I had a good idea from my research which one I wanted. He kept buying and I kept trying them, and we competed in a number of small local matches, we did ok for beginners to Air. One competitor had the rifle I wanted so I watched him a bit and saw his methods and took a hard look at the rifle. To me, he wasn’t doing the rifle any justice but, me being the new guy, I let him just do the things he wanted and I sat back using my friends rifles while I waited for the time to be right that I could get my hands on that type of rifle. I ordered one that summer and it was delivered in December that year, 2019. I liked it and it shot well. It was a Thomas Air HV BR model .177 caliber set up for the JSB exact 13.43 originals.

If you know me, you know I have a machine shop and you know I am always tinkering with things. You also know I have access to CNC mills and Lathes and if I like something I can make more.

I loved this powerful accurate Benchrest rifle so much that I thought it would be a hell of a lot of fun to be able to take it hunting squirrels, rabbits, birds, and other small pests like ground squirrels. The only problem was that the stock was a single purpose stock, compete and win BR. It has what I like to call a hockey stick butt stock, or as Mike calls a “Tail”. It really has no pistol grip area, and it has a 3” block fore end, all of which are not suited for hunting.

What I needed to do was build a better stock for it so I could switch the rifle up with a minimum number of screws, and have the best BR gun now shoulderable for hunting. I recently finished all the machine work and I love it.

I haven’t don’t the clear anodize yet or glass bead blast on those parts, but I think they look good as silver with that color scheme.

Ive talked about the tuner here before , but the short story is I designed and built the adapter to use Gene Beggs tuner disks. In talking with Gene Beggs he wants me to make my own disks at this point to add to my adapter. So basically I have an adapter and Plates that adjust 4 ounces forward and aft accurately to adjust barrel harmonics to correct group size.

Paul,

Excellent design and execution. Really dresses up the rifle. Any plans to make the part available to others?
