Bought the wrong mcmillan stock

Hello,
I was at a show today and made a pretty big mistake. One that I feel like a complete moron admitting. I was starving and there were tons of people and I got had but should have known better. Anyway, I have a 7mmbr Remington 40x that I've wanted to put in a bench rest stock just because I want to. I saw a really nice looking mcmillan stock. Uses. It was pillar bedded and glass bedded. I loved the color scheme. I asked the guy if a 40x would fit in it and he assured me it would (the part I should have known better about) it was marked Remington 600-7. Obviously meaning model 7. I let him talk me into thinking it meant 600 or 700. The stock is used but in great shape. When I got home I Obviously realized my mistake. To add injury to insult when trying to wiggle a 40x into a 600 stock. I chipped out the inside of the stock where the trigger goes. I'm certain this won't effect it structurally but irritating none the less. I paid $225 for the stock which I thought was fair based on my want of it. Sooooooo, should I
1. Sell it in ebay and hope to get me money back
2. Try to trade it for a 700 br stock seeing as 600 stocks aren't that common
3. Try to find a 600 action or preferably an xp action and start a build. I have never seen an xp action only locally nor have I seen a 600 action.
I don't have a ton of money so I don't want to buy an entire rifle of xp100 just to get the action then pay a gunsmith to put it together.
What say you?

I have a 600 action and an XP action possibly looking for stocks. I have converted one of these Anschutz stocks to Remington in the past, because I got it cheap ;) I'm fairly adept at blending the tang and mixing matching epoxy colors to cover the foam.....in other words, I do know what I'm getting into.

I'm Al Matson in south-central WA, Vancouver/Portland area. Make me an offer shipped...... (three six ohh) 904 6941 if you want to talk about it privately or al at sierraconcretefoundations.com one word all lower case no spaces....change the "at" to @ .......

Your stock

Ok. I will put you in line if he passes

After looking at your stock pics, I don't think that is Benchrest stock .

It is a McMill. Metallic Sil. stock. Forend is the wrong shape and a BR stock would never have a high cheek piece like the one shown.

You could still use it for casual BR , but not real competition.

FWIW
