Hello,
I was at a show today and made a pretty big mistake. One that I feel like a complete moron admitting. I was starving and there were tons of people and I got had but should have known better. Anyway, I have a 7mmbr Remington 40x that I've wanted to put in a bench rest stock just because I want to. I saw a really nice looking mcmillan stock. Uses. It was pillar bedded and glass bedded. I loved the color scheme. I asked the guy if a 40x would fit in it and he assured me it would (the part I should have known better about) it was marked Remington 600-7. Obviously meaning model 7. I let him talk me into thinking it meant 600 or 700. The stock is used but in great shape. When I got home I Obviously realized my mistake. To add injury to insult when trying to wiggle a 40x into a 600 stock. I chipped out the inside of the stock where the trigger goes. I'm certain this won't effect it structurally but irritating none the less. I paid $225 for the stock which I thought was fair based on my want of it. Sooooooo, should I
1. Sell it in ebay and hope to get me money back
2. Try to trade it for a 700 br stock seeing as 600 stocks aren't that common
3. Try to find a 600 action or preferably an xp action and start a build. I have never seen an xp action only locally nor have I seen a 600 action.
I don't have a ton of money so I don't want to buy an entire rifle of xp100 just to get the action then pay a gunsmith to put it together.
What say you?
