Best case trimmer ?

Thanks, Dennis. I guess bowed brass would be a complication, but this would provide an inspection step, if the first case is straight. I like the drill press set-up, but hadn't considered it for neck turning. But then, I don't neck turn. Nice set-up.
Did you fashion your own quill stop? You mentioned careful set-up; lowering the quill on a dummy case isn't exact? Thanks.

Keppler, I haven't seen a C-frame from CH. Thanks for the mention. When I was studying presses for features, I liked their present one. In the end, I decided that I didn't need something that heavy, or expensive.

It is factory Rockwell from that era... the adjustment is in 2 thou increments... touch the case with the press off... turn the adjustment down until it tightens up... and a bit more and try it...

RCBS trimmer with 3-way cutter.

When I was into "HIGHPOWER" I used the electric trimmer, but now I use the hand powered RCBS trimmer with their 3-way cutter. It trims o/a length and de burs inside and out all at the same time. It works great for me since I only hunt and some bench rest shooting. :):):)

Take a look at the pictures. Got it from Midwayusa.

"Aim small miss small", :D

PS: I also made a small aluminum tray to catch the cuttings which you can see in the picture. :)

Thanks for all the idea's. I'll probably go with the Wilson or Sinclair trimmer. Speed is of really no concern, what I'm wanting to do is learn the right way to do things and I always did like good tools. Hammers, shovels or reloading, good tools are just that...good. Whats that old saying..buy once, scream once. I know no one personally that reloads in the manner I want to so if you guy's don't mind I'll probably have a lot more questions.
Once again, Thanks for the Ideas.

From a lazy retiree standpoint get two of the Sinclairs, use one to do the rough trim(pass) and another to do the finish when you get the finish one set lock it, of course if you turn multiple neck sizes you will need one for each size, that way you can have a bunch of toys.

Best case trimmer...

Ya know, I sometimes think that Lee stuff works so well, nobody wants to mention it for fear someone else might find out.

Lee Zip Trim.
Just got to this forum-see I am going to be spending a lot of time here-so much valuable information!!

OK, I have to reply to 4 Mesh response about Lee reloading equipment. I try to save the coins until I can purchase top-of-the-line equipment. I have owned several powder measures,Lyman, RCBS, and finally a Redding BR-30. Guess what? The little plastic, cheap looking Lee did as well or better. Bought some bench rest RCBS dies for my .223. Was using Lee before that. No change in accuracy using dies that cost 4 times as much. I have a Dillon 550. I love it, but I also have a Lee turret press that while not as fast, loads just as well. Plus I can haul it to the range in the trunk of my car. The 550 is bolted to my 300 pound bench, so it stays here. I am currently saving for a Geraud case trimmer, $389.00 + shipping, but my little CHEAP Lee case trimmer is doing the job just fine till it gets here. Actually, when you think about the ability of changing to a different caliber, you can buy a bunch of different shell holders and case length gauges for the price of one Geraud caliber change. The big advantage of the Geraud is it trims, chamfers, and deburr's all at the same time. However, it doesn't work with straight walled pistol brass, so my Lee won't be gathering any dust. I guess the bottom line is, go for the top dollar stuff if you have the bucks, but don't feel like you are at any disadvantage using the Lee gear.
OFFmy soap box before I get banned from this site!

I may not agree with what you say, but I will fight for your right to say it..........
