Hey Guys,

There was a thread on here a while back about a battery pack for the Chargemaster.
Does anyone have the info they can re post? I am having a heck of a time finding it.

Thanks,

Tim

That be the one Al thanks. How come your not out in this rain pooring mud?

Tim,
I went to a battery store and bought a 12 volt 7.5 amp battery. It's 6" long,3 1/2" high and 2 1/2" deep. I just clipped the wires to the wall charger and use male/female connectors. One for AC use and one for battery use. Works fine.

Best,
Dan Batko

LOL

today is office work, I'm billing out some actual factual jobs! This is why I'm on and off the comp. In the daylite no less! We've been fairly busy this last month but looking ahead I see lots of shooting and gun work. Right now the "jobs" on my "schedule" are all lathe work. I'm setting here debating about whether or not to order bushing sets from Kiff..... I really could use a large Grizzly rod and set of 308's and 338's....... I'm getting by using a 2" stylus and cobbled together extensions but this latest 338L project is 'WAYYY into the bore eh!!

Maybe I'll finally take the time to test Lard Oil versus Do-Drill versus ATF versus SomeunpronounceableShchwedischeStuff versus schtinky black sulfurized oil versus ??? for chambering and settle on something. Hopefully not schtinky/schticky schtuff.

I will say this, the homebrew from some machinists forum that's composed of water/dishsoap/30wt is pure crapola!!

It really is fun though, making chips again. I'm finding out that while my reflexes are still awesome my eyes leave something to be desired!!! I useta'could do all my inspections nekkid under dim light..... now I can't GET enough light on the subject.... and I find myself schquinting....

So far this G4003G is performing above and beyond my expectations. I kinda' miss a belt drive, and I have to be REALLY careful around this thing cuz it AIN'T gonna' stop I get sucked in..... but so far (KOW) I've been able to remember how to keep myself clear. Me being The Safety Geek (and not doing this every day) I'm already scheming on a safety bar brake.

And I just scored a case of safety glasses last week from a fleamarket....

I really do need some good loupes or a distance glass though before I take my left ear off......looking close.

Well, I finally got my Diamond Tool Holder. Think I'm gonna' hai me'self down to the lathe soonly.

Because I CAN!!!

Whilst we r at this how about a few pichas of the enclosures folks have made to keep the drafts off their Chargemasters :) ?

Go to an auto parts store, there in the SE I use Advance Auto and get a Schumacher (sp) (or similar) battery booster, about $45. Get one that has the cigarette lighter plug on it. Then go to something like a Radio Shack and get a chord with the cigarette plug on one end and a plug like your RCBS 110V power supply on the other. I got a 500 CCA unit and it will run the Chargemaster continuously for about 5 days without recharging. Enough to do the Super Shoot.

According to Don Legg Jr at RCBS the Chargemaster can take from about 9 VDC to about 16 VDC as input.

I built one recently using two Radio Shack "D" cell battery holders (4 "D" cells each) connected in series (12 volts). Attached the holders back to back with two sided tape and wired them to a cigarette lighter socket. To get dc power to the Chargemaster I use a cigarette lighter plug connected to a 12v adapter which is compatable with the Chargemaster's 12v socket. All of the parts are available at Radio Shack including batteries. I have used it a few times so far and it works perfectly. This was discussed extensively in a forum thread about a year ago where someone commented that the 8 "D" cells lasted through an entire shooting season. I think I spent about $30-$35 for everything.

Portalbe Battery For Chargemaster

May want to check this out. I bought PST BP23-Enhanced rechargeable battery from the website below. The battery has all the necessary accessories to charge and use the Chargemaster at the range without having to buy any connector for the battery to the Chargemaster. The price to include shipping was $48.00. However, at the present, the site shows that this battery is out of stock and would not be available until mid December.

Thanks for all the replies, looks like there are plenty of ways to do this.

Al, I have using Moly D by Castrol for chambers. If you are trying to save money, 50/50 with Omega. Yeah it stinks. My wife hates the smell, it always puts a smile on my face when I get the sour puss look from her. I would also like to know what you think of the diamond tool after you get to use it.

This is the one I got too. Only trouble I had was it ran out of gas at the range after I THOUGHT it was fully charged. I ran it totally dead and fully charged it twice. SEEMS to be working ok now. Please note the qualifiers in caps.

My "New TO ME" Town & Country has 110v in the rear Midship so if I must, I can simply plug into it back there OR I bought a 6" cord at Radio Shack that plugs into the live 12v outlet in the back and into the Chargemaster. It has the Swivel and Go seating back there with a Club Table :) OR, I have a gross of small glass vials I bought several years ago that I can fill at home. I prefer to fill the cases at home, all in the same environment however.

Tim,

So far I've got about 6-7hrs on the Diamond tool. In short, I like it. It's stiff, wicked easy to sharpen and easy to set to ht. As advertised it does interrupted cuts well.

Tonite I found my first "problem" which is a configuration problem not a cutting problem. I got only the left-hand cutting unit. The most common configuration. The unit works very well for threading/chambering type situations at the deaqstock but tonite I made a handle for my reamer driver and ended up turning a 12" piece between centers. The tool doesn't clear my live center at the outboard end. Where with a normal tool you'd just slide it out a little for extra reach, the Diamond tool doesn't go "out" it just goes up and down. I could have reset it taller and gotten it to clear but barely. It was quicker to slip another tool holder into the Aloris to get my cut tight up against the live center.

I'm happy so far with the Ozzie Engineering unit.
