BAT 3 vs 2 Lug

Hal, apologies for the quality of the pictures. The light was bad and using the flash made the pictures flare a bit. The first 2 show the roller in the bolt. The last one shows the recess machined to accommodate the roller - this is not visible when the firing pin/shroud is screwed into the bolt body.

I am having a 338 Lapua build with the BAT action. I asked them about the three lug and they said it would be too big for the 2 inch diameter Model L action. Why too big? I do not know. I figured that BAT knew the reason.

Something doesn't make sense. The 2-lug, 10-inch long (2-inch diameter) BAT with the 1.250 tenon can take the .338 Lapua. I know of several.

The 3-lug actions, with a 1.0625 tenon won't -- or probably shouldn't. The .338 Lapua/416 Rigby is .588 diameter at the case head. There is not enough steel in the tenon. A 1.0625 tenon maxes out with the 404 Jeffery size case, which is .545 at the case head.
 
I ordered a 3 LL.

Only thing that gets me is the tenion length is shorter than on an M action. But the threads are 18 tpi insted of 16 tpi. Maybe that makes up the difference in strength? Maybe theres no difference anyway?
