Any Gurus out there could tell me what mfgr marks their barrels with the number 272 NK K8

My barrel has no additional ID marking

Yes, sizing with a .268 bushing so 272 sounds right as I was told this has a no neck chamber. SO would 272 NK designate neck and K8 designate Kreiger 1:8 twist?

You didn't initially specify that this was a finished barrel nor did you state where, on the barrel, the markings were placed. That would have helped a lot.

That's right Jerry. I jumped into a complete bench rest setup in 6BR at my rifle club swap meet. Still don't know exactly what I bought. SO I started with the markings on the barrel hoping one of you guys would recognize them. I'll probably have to pull the barrel off the stock to look for any other ID. The action is marked BAT Machine VR 189 it's a left side load and eject port with an integral pic rail. I can't find it listed on the BAT website. The stock is laminate with conventional pistol grip and the engraved butt plate says tracker. I'd like to recruit some help here and hopefully find out what I have bought.

I believe what you're trying to say is "no neck-turn" chamber...... and yes, .272 is a common size for the "no neck-turn" 6BR. "No neck-turn" means it will accept un-modified factory case without you having to turn the neck down to size using special tooling.

Where are you located, perhaps someone familiar with BR can help you sort it out.

I’ve marked competition barrels just like that. If I barrel a rifle for a benchrest shooter it will have,in your case, 6 BR .272 NK K8 with Bryant Custom engraved under that. The 6 BR is the cartridge the barrel is chambered, .272 is the neck diameter of the reamer used and the K8 designates it a Krieger 8 twist barrel. The K8 helps a shooter keep track of what make barrel he has on the rifle when he changes to another barrel. Any other markings are at the request of the shooter. I’ve engraved owners names on barrels especially when a husband and wife both shoot. Not sure whether that was to keep her husband from putting her benchrest barrel on his rifle. Also numbers added to barrels to help the shooter keep track of barrel #1,2 or 3 when they have multiple barrels for the same rifle.
