Nothing is written in stone.
Up untill a few years ago, it was deemed "too much of a hassle" for many to weigh each individule charge. But, in recent years, several new products in the way of small, reasonably accurate scales, and automatic powder measurers such as the RCBS Charge Master, have made the task much more user friendly at the range.
This years Nationals was a real eye opener for me. All you had to do was look around and see the numbers of shooters who were weighing charges, (and shooting well), to understand that either you evolve, or get left behind.
As for 133, I am still shooting it, but I do have 96 pounds of this new stuff on back order at Brunos. It might prove to be better, the same, or not as good. The only way we will really know is to get it, shoot it, and see. Let's face it, up untill now, unless you were one of the priveleged few who could get the "unobtanians", 133 was what you used.
I never had anything against Club Matches, I just always said that shooting group in club matches was a waste of time. Sorry, but I have seen to many "phenominol" aggs shot in Club Matches by shooters who do not bother to show up for registered events when that "pesky moving backer" is recording the shot count. OK, call me cynical. At Tomball we shoot Score at our Club Matches.
I also recognize the fact that the Sanctioning Bodies are steadilly loosing members. I have the priveledge to be a member of a club that is willing to allow us to hold Club Matches in order to support extreme accuracy shooting. Somebody has to bewilling to run these matches. At this time, it just happens to be me at Tomball. In years past, it was someone else. In the future, someone else will pick up the gaunlet. But, while I am doing it, we will try to make it as convienient as we can for shooters to come out and enjoy shooting in a Benchrest enviroment, but with a more relaxed atmosphere. We will try to reward their accomplishments with something that can instill pride in each individule, and we can only hope that these shooters would be willing to step up to the next level and be part of one of the two Sanctioning Bodies.
If they choose not to, then they can still have a great time doing what it is they like to do. Shooting.
I hope this explains why my attitudes have evolved a little. As the old saying goes, if you just stand in one place, you will never get anywhere, and just might get run over........jackie
