I've heard good things about light boxes for scoring targets, but can't seem to find any info or guides on how to make one. Anyone have pictures or know where I can get more info?

We use one here at Salem for scoring our rimfire benchrest targets. We have no power at the benches so it uses 2 of those big 6v flashlight batteries and LED strip lights under each row of targets. It works very well when used with a magnified scoring plug. I'll try to remember to snap some pics of it at our regular Wed. evening match. Haven't gotten around to making a face for it so we can use if for air rifle but I'll probably do that before the NE Reg. at the end of the month.

If you have power available, I've seen them be had for as little as $19.00. Our's was around $75.00 and well worth it. Todd's approach is a good one without power. I can't see scoring without one.

I've got one I made and use
I have tried a couple of light sources. I fitted mine with an inexpensive outdoor light socket that holds two bulbs. I first tried 2-12 V incandescent bulbs from a RV shop and plugged into my vehicle's power outlet. broke one of the bulbs and didn't like the light so I then tried a small round LED push on light ; not enough light. I have a low cost 120V inverter I can plug into the hot power outlet in my T&C. I tried it with two 40W appliance bulbs last week and it works out pretty well. I have power W/I 150' of where I score and use my computer so I ran cords to the clubhouse. I liked the two 40 W bulbs pretty good. I find that less is more with regard to the light. I helped score @ last year's IR 50/50 Nationals and I must say, the light box setup Fairchance has is the best I have seen. Two lighted boxes with a lighted magnifier on a boom between the two boxes. Not many cards were protested, as I recall.
