Anyone use a 6ppc ar15?

I have a stripped lower and model1 sells a complete rifle kit that is reasonable. I figure one of you guys must have been down this road before. I'm wondering if it is limited in bullet size making it not worth the work. I'm really interested if anyone has a first hand report for accuracy.

I have one i built with a real br barrel. All you need is a 7.62x39 bolt and a barrel extension then turn the barrel to match the gas tube and block etc. i wouldnt buy a prebuilt one for sure. As far as accuracy for an autoloader it does fine but as far as real accuracy no. And i know model 1 is not known for br quality work so i doubt an a3 or a4 with a cm barrel is gonna disappoint. Neck tension is unreal to keep em from pushing the bullets back.

Its a shaw barrel and seems like pretty good quality. I don't have the means to have one custom built. I'm wondering if it will be any more accurate than a 223

IME, the answer is, marginally if any. The barrel and overall platform don't support agging below in the .3's..which a good .223 can do. Again..this is IME. I've never been able to squeeze better than .3 AGGS, out of the platform, regardless of caliber, barrel or anything else...and have tried. Of course, you'll probably have someone that says differently. Sure..I saw some much better froups on occasion, but I'm convinced that the platform is the limiting factor.

May not get any more short range accuracy than a well-built .223, but you can definitely get better long range performance. Ie this is a setup thats similar to what many in the High Power/Across-The-Course arena are running:

Pretty much everyone running a AR15-based match rifle in XTC are running either a variation of the 6mm AR/6mm Rat(based on the 6.5 Grendel case which is descendant of the PPC) or a 6mm HAGAR(based on the 6.8x43mm SPC).

Of course, most everyone running those are using long VLD-type bullets/Hybrids/SMK's, not short range-friendly stubby BR bullets. Personally I think itd be a waste to run Hottensteins or the like through such a rifle, but theres several people out running lighter varmint bullets through them in the 70 to 87gr range.

The platform has to be as good as the cartridge though, to realize the benefit. In long range, I think most will agree, that a gun that is good for last in short range, can win in long, if the driver does his thing. Didn't the fast twist 223 use to dominate xtc matches? I'm not saying that you can consistently win in anything with a rifle that can't help carry you, but there are simply more variables in long range. You don't see many, if any, teen aggs in LR, but they have become the norm in short range. IME, an AR just can't go there...yet.
