Action Bolt in or Glue in

Hello All,

Am preparing to build a rifle or maybe have one built but have a question.

What method of bedding is most typical with rimfire benchrest rifles. My last rifle was a glue in but there's no denying I do like being able to remove the action from the stock on occasion.

Thanks for any thoughts on this,

Lee

Lee: Most tournament RF rifles have pillars and solid bedding. Only a few are glue in. In CF most are glue in.

Do what your smith recommends; asking him to work outside of his comfort zone is not prudent. bob

Bedding

Thanks for this information. Some time ago I made an aluminum bedding block and a set of pillars for a Sako Sporter rifle I was shooting. The bedding job was not done well I thought. I ground out just enough to install the bedding block and install pillars and bedded it with devcon. The rifle sure did shoot better and made me a believer when it comes to properly bedding a rifle action. Now I'm not a machinist but I can do basic stuff like a bedding block and I had some great help and instruction on how to do it. The internet is a wealth of information for the guy who likes to do it himself.
