Hi guys
Any and all feedback would be appreciated. If you wanted to build 1000 yard LG and perhaps use it for hunting varmint which one would you choose?
Thanks
Vinny

A lot of development has happened with the 6 x 47 Lapua over the last year or so. I am in the process of changing any 6mm BR I own to a 6 x47 lapua. I have owned no Dashers, but have owned (still own) other improved cases.

My point of view is that the 6 x 47 lapua is the 6 mm answer. Enough powder capacity to push a 105 grain bullet 3000 plus with out having to muck around with blowing out cases or pressure worries. I have lost interest in improving cases. I get excellent accuracy with this case. I think the fact that there are many improved versions of the 6mmBR shows that many think there is not enough capacity in the case.

Note that I do not shoot competition, just prarie dogs, but I do shoot over 100 rounds each weekend at up to 450 yards. I am also in the middle of building a 6 X7 in a 1 in 12 twist to shoot 70 to 80 gr bullets for the closer PD's. Best I can do with a plain 6mm br and a 70 gr is 3400 fps. Want more speed for a flatter trajectory. Ordered the reamer from Kiff this am.

Check the match results. See what's happening there. Good luck

Norma makes brass for it now. No Lapua is made. I don't really know much about this case. I am afraid that at this point, I have become a Lapua snob. If Lapua does not make brass for it, I won't consider it.

I would check 600 and 1,000 yard match results and be guided by that.

Vinny, I've got reamers & prints for both 6x47L & 6XC, and have visually compared both cases. They are very similar in shape & size, with the XC having a slightly longer case body (.050" longer). Offsetting that, the 6x47's dia. at the shoulder is a few thou larger than the XC. Not having compared actual water capacity of the two, my best guess is that there's a grain or less difference between the two. IMHO, the fact that the 6x47 uses small primers vs. the XC's large primer pocket is probably more significant than the slight difference in case capacity.

Agreed. I would probably give the 6x47 the nod for your reason as well Andrews, Lapua brass.
Thanks for input guys
