Ok, I am going to bug you guys with this. Is there a modification to the 40X rimfire that makes loading easier? I used mine for Rimfire Benchrest last night and I found it troublesome at best.

It is possible to make it feed easier. You have to modify the bolt and make a new ramp. It might be possible to just make a new ramp but you are limited to what you can do because of the bolt design. I made single shot adapters for my repeaters but the bolts were redesigned..Wayne

What do you find troublesome about it?

When I put the cartridge on the feed ramp if it isn’t on there perfect it can roll off and get stuck between the ramp and the wall of the action.

It seems that my 2 40X rimfires have a spring plate?? on the left side of the receiver to help that situation.

Yes they do. I bend mine enough so they don't move but stay just free of the bolt. I had one move out too far in a match and couldn't close the bolt. Lesson learned. Some of my 40Xs with ptg bolts I made fillers out of delrin with the inside surface radiused to clear the bolt. Just a light press fit and they stay in place. Wayne

My spring plate has been moved out of the way as well. I have the shell fall off the ramp but not many . Not even when my fingers are froze in -25 degree celcius weather. But one advantage i think i have is that i shoot left handed so im looking directly at the loading port.

Try

Small alum block with round grove taper bottom to push in hole in center with threads small to pull out bill brawand

Here are 3 pictures.
The ramp. How it should feed and what happens if I don’t get the round in there correctly. 2F31B301-6601-4D82-8139-AB734EF3A8EB.jpeg3148EC52-0A08-4653-8F55-CB960E54139F.jpeg186CDE82-07F1-4A94-B5D4-23C7BBEA6083.jpegafter looking at it it looks like the bolt rides around the ramp and it would take some engineering to change it.

My 40x (CMP)dont seem to have that poblem.

But I have not shot it in couple yrs. My wife has taken a liking to it.
Ill have to take it out after the snow melts and give it a run. It will be about 4th in line when the range is ready.
