Some shooters say you should clean with a racoon on your shoulder. Delete the internet shooters and watch what goes on at real live matches.

put some sardines in it. trap the stinker use the blanket to shield yourself as you approach the trap, cover it and lug it off to an anti gunners back yard.

It seems that there are two lines of thought here. One is to clean when the accuracy drops and the other is to clean it every chance you get. I'll add that a competition shooter can't suffer through an accuracy drop while everybody else can. If you shoot competitively, and your rifle won't shoot well when cleaned there's only one choice - get a rifle that will. If you fall into the other camp then it really doesn't matter.
