Some of were able to get a little practice before the NBRSA Nationals which will be held at the Holton Club in September.

The weather word for the weekend was moderation, with temperatures between 60F and 80F. A little sun, some clouds, a 1 hour fog delay, occasional rain showers, and variable winds (meaning consent switching). Nothing really bad, and no sign of snow, so all was good.

On Saturday morning 50 shooters started the LV 100, and local Vic Halverson shooting a small group of 0.133. The 100LV agg winners were Joe Hynes 0.1904, Ken Hottenstein 0.1956, and Chuck MacCluer 02036.

In the afternoon, the 100HV presented a little mirage with light but switching winds, and John Anderson managed a 0.64 for small group. The 100HV agg winners were Chuck Miller 0.1848, Ted Hindselman 0.1850, and Melvyn Newransky 0.1922.

Sunday morning opened with no wind, but a lot of FOG. Normal start time of 8:00 was pushed back to 9:15 when most shooters claimed they could see some of the target rings. Joe Krupa and Ted Heindselman shared the small group with a very nice 0.166. Joe thought that he won on style points, because his matched a small daisy with 5 even petals. The general consensus of those at the awards was that Ted should receive the wood, and since we are a democracy, so it went. The 200HV agg winners were Joe Krup 0.1841, Ted Heindselman 0.2060, Jeff Arebregg 0.2419.

The 200LV experienced more wind, some thunder showers alternating with mirage, so all had a fun time. Steve Theye finished the day with a 0.155 which ended up as small group. The 200LV winners were local Troy Emery 0.2707 (notice how all the teens aggs left the range), Vic Potts 0.2723, and local Kevin Barnhard 0.2732. Just for those who care, Don Creach must have gotten lost looking for the KC range and ended up at Holton this weekend, and managed 4th with a 0.2779.

The LV Grand Agg was won by Vic Potts 0.2411, with Joe Hynes at 0.2571, and Troy Emery at 0.2630.

The HV Grand Agg was won by Ted Heindselman with a 0.1955, Dale Dillingham 0.2263, and Chuck Miller 0.2271.

The 2 gun results are: Ted Heindselman 0.2385, Joe Krupa 0.2506, Vic Potts 0.2545, Dale Dillingham 0.2592, Chuck Miller 0.2603, Bill Symons 0.2604, Troy Emery 0.2633, Joe Hynes 0.2669, Bob Scarbrough Jr. 0.2672, Lloyd Miller 0.2756.

Great job Ted. Well deserved.

It was an excellent weekend to shoot at Holton and Ted's win was very impressive.

I shot next to him this weekend and most of what was said was me saying "nice group Ted", over and over again. When he threw that .166 at 200 yards on top of mine on the fourth group on Sunday morning, all I could say to him was "nice group, again, Ted". And any time a guy can shoot a teen grand aggregate like Ted did in the heavy gun, that is quite a feat.

I would like to say a few words about Mr. Heindselmann and his ascention in shooting. Over the last few years Ted has worked extremely hard at getting better. Quietly he shows up at darn-near every match within driving distance of Indiana and puts in the time. He pays his dues. What I have seen is that he takes his set-backs as "learning experiences" and is humble in wins. Undernearth that "humbleness", is a guy who works hard and drives to succeed.

When I shook his hand after the match this weekend, all Ted said to me was "you have no idea how much this means to me". I'd like to think that I do; because it is the times of overcoming tough competition by continual work and the actions of trying to get better, even with a good chance that the effort may not always pay-off that makes the times when you do suceed so much sweeter.

Congratulations Ted. You've earned. And you are truly a class act.

Ted,

You are a class act and a very well deserved win. I hope that crooked barrel shoots well for a long time.

Like I told you at Holton Ted, you can't build your own gun. :) Congratulations on your win. You have been working hard and it shows.
