the main of my rimfires have six groove barrels. how accurate is a 2 groove benchmark barrel? i'm asking because i'm getting ready for this year and i'm buying a 40x. i have found one with a 2 groove barrel and was wondering how well they shoot.

I have a couple of 40X's and one has a 2 groove barrel and the other has a 6 groove, I like 'em both. The 2 groove has not been shot much. Only 3 matches, it shot 250's in both matches and won 2 out of the 3 matches I shot it in. I think it's going to shoot very well once it's broken in. Gene Davis put the barrel on.

Holy heck, Kent - that is awesome! If memory is correct, You and Todd and Ken all showed up at about the same time on Mr. Frosty's (Joe Haller) E-Mail Matches, and after a short learning curve commenced to kickin' butt like the rest of us was minus a second leg and yer danged house was afire.

Now that Mike Desaire has left us, the poor souls in San Diego do not have a top level shooter from which to glean information in our struggle to improve.

Gordon,
Mike was a great guy. I talked to him over the phone a couple of times. He had a sincere interest in shooting, and you could tell that on the phone. I really did enjoy the email matches and the banter that went on, good natured of course. If I had the time, I'd still shoot in them now and then. But it seems there's never enough time to do everything. Ron Sinnema and Jerry Evans at Benchmark made some very good barrels for my 40X's and sporters, and my luck got a whole lot better after that! Once you have equipment up to the task the fault is with the operator, and man have I had my faults:) I haven't lost any matches because of bad rifles. Poor decisions--yeah!!
The best thing about the game is the people and comradery. I've made some life long friends since I started shooting rimfire BR, and treasure each and every one of 'em.
Those email matches were sure a lot of fun!
