1st Unofficial National 50 Benchrest League Match & USARB - Open Grove 2-14-21

We welcomed 12 shooters for a beautiful Sunday morning. There were 10 shooters competing at 50 yards on the new National 50 Benchrest League target to try out for the first unofficial N50BL match. There were two rimfires and .177, .22, .25 and 30 cal pellets competing together. Note those shooting .177 did well compared to the larger pellets thanks to the large .35 scoring plug. Scores & rifles as shown.

It was nice to have Matt and his son Abdul drive the long way to be with us along with some of our regulars shooting 25m on USARB targets.

Conditions started off pleasant but as each relay began the winds and the switch picked up. Personally, am pleased with the participation at 50 yards and hope it will continue and grow in the N50BL. Scoring plugs and targets will be available soon as we officially kick off the new League. Thanks for being patient. A preliminary website is up, National50.org, to review the target & rules. Thank you Dick Strever!

Overall, it was a good time, and thank you shooters for your support, all the goodies to munch on, help with scoring and air from MAC1

For those interested, we would like to have a few more matches in the month, these would be on a Wednesday starting at 9am. Just email me to let me know.

Regards,
Joe

Thank you Lou for posting the results. It was interesting to see comparisons between rimfire and pellets. I knew it would be close but also hoped some scores would have been better. Hopeful scores will increase in time.

Thanks again,
Joe

Cool!

Question: RF and AR are only competing head to head when the AR is shooting slugs and they are scored with the same 0.224" plug, right?

Hi Kim,
That is correct, and we miss you here.

I pretty much knew with both the rimfire and pellets that it would be very close . Dennis had a very good run in Match 2 till the wind beat him on card 3.

Thanks Joe!

Great shooting at 50 especially considering how hard it is at 25!

I will return one day....as Napoleon said, or someone (the last president?). I've been shooting 10M air pistol. BR seems to be about 95% equipment (barrel X ammo) but pistol is 95% shooter. Spending time working on my wobble instead of pestering the pellet distributor for consistent ammo no longer available
