1910 Chilean Mauser rifle strength

I'm reading your post, and it reads like you are including pictures. For some reason, they are not on my screen.

You States that the chamber has no freebore, but then state that there is .400 between where the chamber ends and the rifling begins. Since Weatherby Rifles sort of pioneered the freebore concept and were known to have a generous freebore, (around 3/8 inch in 7mm), it reads like you do indeed have a generous freebore in that barrel.

Also, how much chamber neck clearance do you have over a case with a seated bullet?

Here are the dimensions for the various sizing conditions. First off left side is a full length 7mm sized unreamed, bullet seated, next is a sized in the trim die then reamed and then sized FL. Then a 120 grain hornady and a 154 Hornady bullet shown approx in the seated position. What follows is the cerro safe casting w/dimensions. All dimensions taken with a micrometer.

Hope this helps and Thanks for the reply.

7x61 SH remote firing

I took the top loading for the 175 grain bullet and loaded 54 grains of 4320 in a reformed 7 mm case sparked by a WW primer, 2840 fps. (Old lyman reloading manual) Stuck the barreled action in a tire supported front and rear, sandbags up front on top of the barrel, a dowel rod thru the trigger guard and bearing on the 15in tire I used, rear guard screw was butted against the bead of that tire. I fired three of these loads and noticed no trouble on opening, yes I used a long string and was hiding behind a concrete "pad" poured for the floor of the shooting range, this pad was above ground enough to get my large butt down below line of shrapnel path. Old(newer) Hornady manual suggests 51.6 gn behind the same bullet 2700 FPS. (just found this as I write it) So I think I am good to go. Thanks for all the reply's. Now to find someone to do a good bluing job and bend the bolt handle or weld one on the stub. Didn't want to do any work till I "proofed" the action. Or do you think I need to go with a faster powder and try it again? Say 4895 behind the same bullet, Primer did show a slight extrusion but the bolt was ground for the belted case and the firing pin hole is quite sharp. I defer to the experts. Oh no expansion of the belt, it measures the same before and after firing. I need to open up the shell guide rails to feed the belted case.....haven't found any reference on the net as yet.
