I read the thread at thehighroad It appears this cartridge fired with the bolt all the way back, ie an open chamber. A Savage model I'm not familiar with. I doubt that my Stiller or Bat would do that, but I don't plan to find out.

Thanks Jerry. The "how long to wait" was one of my questions. With a jambed bullet, one would like to avoid spilling the powder into the chamber and action.....so is it ok to open the bolt and tap the bullet and cartridge back with a cleaning rod?

I have a tight necked 7 WSM. I am turning Norma 300 WSM brass to .012" prior to resizing it to 7mm. Since the 7 WSM is slightly longer to the neck, should I neck turn all the way to the shoulder of the 300 WSM, or stop short of that. This is my first post: thanks for helping a newbie. Matt
