    Pointers For New Sporter Shooter?

I know what you mean, at 72 getting my self folded up ride the RGV puts me in need of the ibuprofen! I call the Multistrada my old man bike. Dennis

    Pointers For New Sporter Shooter?

Nice! I don't have anything quite of that era but you've got the right brand. Speed Triple R and Street Triple R here along with Caponord, Multistrada and a little RGV 250. My brain automatically switches back to 19 year old mode on a bike. Dennis

    Pointers For New Sporter Shooter?

That's a Baity's Blackhawk, I ordered it as a left port right eject but it wasn't reliable that way so I converted it back to left eject. One unexpected benefit though is that when loading if you miss the chamber as sometimes happens you can just push the misplaced round out of the right port. I...

    Pointers For New Sporter Shooter?

Okay, I think that worked! The light colored wood on the fore arm is Angel's Heart, Redwood is rather soft so I inlaid this as a hard sliding surface, had it left over from my deck.

    Pointers For New Sporter Shooter?

Now see, that's exactly my problem, I still carry a 4G flip phone and only carry it when I'm on one of my motorcycles, even then I don't turn it on just carry it "in case". I do have a camera, I'll see if I can figure it out. Dennis

    Pointers For New Sporter Shooter?

Ha ha, Tim I can barely check email and post, figuring out how to post pictures is beyond my computer kung fu! They basically follow a Don Stith straight line pattern but have a longer forearm and less wood under the barrel and a low profile butt to keep recoil as straight line as possible...

    Pointers For New Sporter Shooter?

I shoot the sporter free recoil but I built the stock straight and very low profile specifically with that in mind, my bags are very firm and I milled out the center portion of the Fudd rest that the front bag sits on so it is contoured to the curve of the bottom of the forearm. Some guns need...

    Pointers For New Sporter Shooter?

I don't post a lot so this may be worth exactly what you pay for it but I don't care for the dot, I shoot a Weaver 6X that Optical Services has replaced the dot with the straight fine crosshair. I find it easier to judge hold off but I must admit it takes a lot of concentration to be sure that...

    Oregon rimfire benchrest

MightyMouse, unfortunately there aren't any sanctioned matches in Oregon anymore. I'm just outside of Eugene and the only thing close is Capital Cities in Washington, I shoot there. We're always looking for new shooters. There's an informal match in Roseburg the first Sunday of the month, they...

    A picture of my latest

Slowshot, I see your lefthanded, congratulations, we're the only shooter in our right minds! (old medical theory). I see your rest is set up for righthanders, is it reversible?

    RBA vs IR 50 50

That looks perfect. I just sold my Neo a couple months back, just couldn't get use to the joystick. What's there and a set of flags and spotting scope is all you really need. See you in the spring. Oh, and a sun shade or umbrella to keep the sun out of your eyes first thing in the morning. We...

    RBA vs IR 50 50

Slowshot, Cap citiy usually gets the schedule out in late Jan. or early Feb. I'll let you know when I get it and you can also check on the IR website. For the last few years it's been club matches the second Sat., April through August. Then State and Regionals the fourth Sat. in May and June...

    RBA vs IR 50 50

Slowshot, you know there are sanctioned IR 50/50 matches held at Capital City Rifle and Pistol Club? They hold 3 gun matches but if you don't have a sporter you can just shoot the10.5 and 13.5 class'

Front and Rear bags for Sporter Class

Bags I must be the odd one out, I like my bags hard as a rock. Rear is Minigater with the Edgewood spacer glued on for extra height, 3/8 spaced bunny ears Cordura, the front is Fudd top with a trough milled in under the bottom bag so it forms to the curved bottom of the sporter. Use the same...

    ejector slots

not a problem I've cut a few dozen barrels and have never had a problem cutting them in one setup. 1 1/2" sharp fine toothed slotter, slow feed and lots of oil. I cut from the breech end along the bore. Dennis

    Tuner setting?

Tuning method Like most folks who have been at this for awhile I've tried every method that has come along. So far the only two methods that have come close to agreeing with each other to final tune are the Hopewell method and the one outlined by I THINK by Mike Ezell, (getting old and can't...

    Barrel Crowns

I agree I do break the edge of my crowns but doing so turns the crown into whatever angle you use on the break. personally I use 45 degrees just enough to clean up to the groove. Doesn't matter how small the break may be the last thing the bullet sees is the break angle. For rimfire I believe...

    Barrel Crowns

take a closer look I don't think that is an 11 degree crown. If you take a close look it appears that there is a chamfer at the bore, my guess is either 45 or 60 degrees. A true 11 degree crown would have no chamfer at all. Dennis

    100 Yard Rimfire Benchrest

100/200 yd matches We've been having monthly 100 and 200 yard .22 fun matches at our club using ASSRA German ring targets for years. It still comes down to the same thing, reading wind flags and good equipment. The guys at the top are always there and the middle pack are always middle pack...

    Vudoo V22S SS/F Class Action

Mike, As the trigger is pinned will you have different spring strengths available to play with ignition? Also, how much closing cam does the action have? It's great to have a new action available, especially a left hand version. Dennis
