Where can one get a SS die melonited or hardened? I made a PPC ring die from a piece of SS barrel. It's polished and scratches the brass some.

I use a jig on a lathe. I have one for Savage handles and one for Remington bolts or others with a fixed handle. I make the knobs fit the tenon for a smooth look. If you need more info, drop me a line here or at chuck at ridgewaybodies dot com. Some samples of mine.... Savage: Remington:

I had an incident that happened at a large long range match that I blew numerous primers over the weekend...ruined about 60 pieces(primer pockets) of fresh fire formed Dasher brass. So bad, that I opened the bolt and the primer fell out in the load port! One actually made it into the the lug...

I would figure LT-32 would be a bit on the fast side for 168's?

Jerry....not with the 168's. It's a 7 or 30.

Probably went with a prefit barrel that is already chambered and threaded. The nut is then used to tighten barrel after headspace is set.

For $169, i highly doubt you will be satisfied with the precision and accuracy. I'd steer clear. Bison makes a very nice set Tru collet chuck. Nice thing with a set tru...you can dial in dead nuts and will repeat.

Maybe the opening of the die needs attention. Polish off the hard edge with some fine and super fine scotchbrite.
