Snap Caps for 22 BR and 22 PPC

Right, I'm all for dry-firing. It's just that I'd like something there to cushion the firing pin. Turns out--after some sleuthing on the internet--that Harbour Arms in Florida (who make snap caps for a lot of cartridges) will custom-make one, for just a few bucks more than the off-the-shelf...

Info Needed: .222 Rem Flashhole Size

Thanks a lot, Ted. It helps immensely. I have easy access to Lapua brass here in Canada, and, with the smaller flash hole, I'll go with it.

Info Needed: .222 Rem Flashhole Size

I've just bought a .222 Rem. that I'd like to do load-development work on. I've heard that the smaller flashhole size (.062) produces more accurate results, and I'm wondering whether any of the brass makers use this small flashhole with their .222 Rem. brass. Anyone know? Thanks.

Snap Caps for 22 BR and 22 PPC

I understand closing the bolt with the trigger depressed, but that's not why I wanted snap caps. I wanted them to test the trigger weight and make adjustments. As for a fired case, the primer will, in time, become completely depressed after frequent firing-pin strikes and, as a result, will...

Snap Caps for 22 BR and 22 PPC

Does anyone know where I can get snap caps for my 22 BR and 22 PPC? I think that snap caps are available for the the 6 mm. versions of these two cartridges, but I haven't seen any for the .22 versions.

    optical booster

That's really interesting. They claim that the booster eliminates parallax, but don't see how this can be. Has anyone used one of these BulzEye power boosters?

Current Evaluations of 22 PPC and 22 BR Brass

Thanks, Dusty. My rifle has a .2465" neck, so I suspect I'd have to neck-turn. When would I do that? After running the 220 Russian brass through a 22 PPC full-length resizing die? Would that be precise enough with respect to neck length? Or would the fireforming change the length of the neck?

Current Evaluations of 22 PPC and 22 BR Brass

Please excuse my ignorance about this, but would this be 220 Russian Lapua brass? The cases I got with the rifle (years ago) were Norma 22 PPC. It appears that the Lapua brass is superior. What steps are needed to form 220 Russian cases into 22 PPC cases? Do you just run it through a 22 PPC...

Current Evaluations of 22 PPC and 22 BR Brass

What's the current consensus (if there is one) regarding the best quality brass for 22 PPC USA (not using 220 Russian brass) and 22 BR? I read somewhere that Sako's brass is less desirable than Norma's. What are you guys using these days?

    Determining touch vs jam

Well to follow up on this thread and add a new wrinkle: Do you guys find the most-accurate seating depth to be with the bullet just kissing the lands, or jammed in hard? Or off the lands by a certain amount?

Whose Bullets Are Winning the BR Matches?

Bart's are what used to be Watsons, right?

Whose Bullets Are Winning the BR Matches?

I'm thinking here of 22 and 6 mm. benchrest--and 100 yards. Is there a clear winner among the makers of BR match bullets in these calibers?

    7mm rem mag powder suggestions/experience?

Any powder in the burning-rate range of IMR4350 at the fastest to IMR7828 at the slowest should work, and you won't know what's best in your particular rifle until you try several. I had the best results―both velocity- and accuracy-wise―with RL22.

Of the two Eley lines--red and black box--which is generally considered the better?

Generally-Accepted Best .22 LR Ammunition at This Time

Thanks, guys. I had planned on trying several different brands, but wanted to know where to start with the best-shooting brands and lines. I can put my hands on Eley Tenex and RWS R50 and R100, but Lapua seems to be hard to get here in Canada at the moment. Does match-grade Fiocchi show up...

.22 PPC vs. .22 PPC USA vs. .22 PPC Sako

Randy and expiper (and others), many thanks. I will follow your suggestions. And, no, I won't be altering the gun in any way....:D

Generally-Accepted Best .22 LR Ammunition at This Time

Hi guys. I'm not a serious rimfire benchrest shooter, but I am interested in getting the best I can out of a couple of Anschutz M54s. What is the current consensus, circa early 2015, about the very highest-quality of .22 LR match ammo--the stuff you guys lust after? Mods: If this post is out...

.22 PPC vs. .22 PPC USA vs. .22 PPC Sako

That's really helpful, Randy. How much clearance is necessary between the OD of the loaded round and the chamber?
