Coopers would do you just fine, the 50/52/53 do really well. For 300 I normally use 55s. Cooper no longer twist 14 in the model 21 in 223. Its now a standard 12. I have one w/12 twist and it works good for me. The Savage route aint bad either though.

Using this criteria from the OP, my advice would be to buy any standard Varmint. Remmy, Savage, or whichever one trips your trigger and fits budget. Go with the 223 caliber. Light recoil, and more than enough accuracy to keep you in the mix at local matches in the ranges you have specified. DR

26.5 grs H 335, Sierra 52 MK works very well indeed in my 223 cooper. 332 was just as good, as was benchmark. But it seems to come down to that 335 load that is the most consistant all the time. DR

Probably due to the fact that a 10 twist at 24" will stabilize the heaviest common bullets in 257 which is a 120gr. DR

I have an ADL of that same flavor, the 70 to 75 gr BTs, SMK, seemed to due just fine for informal matches to the ranges stated. Varget or H 4895 are dandys for powder with those bullet weights. DR

Good rifles, and from what Ive seen they do shoot. A bit pricey to be carrying in the field. IMO buy a remmy or savage in 25.06 and save the money. I Did. 700 BDL in 25.06 shoots damn good, and doesnt cost 2 Grand. DR
