Hornady .227 Dia 70 grain Bullets..

A buddy handed me 5 boxes of Hornady 70 grain .227 dia. bullets last night, I have no use for them. I understand these are hard to come by these days. Anyone shoot these? The only thing I can think of that uses them is an old Hornet or a 22 Jet mag. Randy

    Remington Accuracy

Got to back up Jackie A few years ago prior to an Elk hunt in Colorado a buddy of mine brought me his Savage 300 Mag asking me to put a Rifle Basiic trigger in it. After changing it out, we went down to our tunnel to sight our rifles in. I drug along my Custom Mod 70 300 Mag that is a known...

    L461 chamberings need advice

Rusty, Not knowing where nlevesque is located, he might be faced wth the same issue we have in the People's Republic of Mexifornia...... No 22's for deer size game. Here the Black Tails don't get much bigger than a good size Yote..... If he can use a 22, the the 223 would be a good choice...

    L461 chamberings need advice

I may be wrong.. But I do not believe you can make a 461 into a PPC or BR, not enough bolt face. If you want to build a 6mm deer rilfe for short to medium range on a 461, consider a 6X47. Not the new 6x47, the one based on the 222mag that did so well in BR in the 60's and 70's. Ballisticly...

    Fajen Thumbhole for XP-100

Friend came to me looking for a thumbhole stock (preferably laminated) for his XP-100. The only one I could think of was made by Fajen. Anyone know where any of these are or has a used one that can be reworked? Randy

    Need Advice

Twud Are you saying the forearm will not fit into the bag, or the forearm does not ride correctly because the conture does not match. Most 3" bags I have seen are made for flat bottom BR stocks. Only guessing here, but is your forearm like a Winchester Targetmaster stock, rounded? If so, you...

    Air Current inside barrel experiment.

Rock, That is the very thing my son pointed out about half way thru the shoot, the oxygen content in the bore. That is one of the reasons I can not put much importance on this experiment, with the limited test equipment (actually, none) this was prob just an excuse to go burn some powder and...

    Air Current inside barrel experiment.

After reading the thread "keeping gun in tune", I was very impressed with Gene Beggs and Jim Bordens discussion. It go me to thinking about what the air inside the barrel was doing as the barrel heated up? My logic (coming from a transplanted Arkie, prob pretty scary) tells me the air is...

    Keeping gun in tune.

question Gene, I am pretty sure I understand your theory and it certainly makes sense to me. But I have a question: If the changes in ambient conditions by 10 degrees affect the bullet dwell time in the barrel, are missing the fact that the heat of the surrounding metal affects the air...

    225 winchester

Beemanebeme, I never heard that it was introduced to compete with the 222, that is funny by itself. I have seen the 225 be put down many times, all I wanted to do was point out that it was not a bad round, it was actually pretty good. My opinion is at the time, Winchester was gong thru...
