    what dies Cooper 6mm BR?

The neck diameter of a fired round is 0.274". An unsized fired round will chamber with no resistance. A sized case measures just over 0.265" with no bullet (0.264" neck bushing). The unsized portion of the neck tapers from 0.270" to 0.278" near the neck/shoulder junction. This case will not...

    what dies Cooper 6mm BR?

My dad is trying to load for a new Cooper 6mm BR. The neck diameter of a loaded round is 0.266". When we use a 0.264" neck bushing in a Wilson die on once fired brass, we are getting a "doughnut" below where the bushing stops sizing. This causing the rounds to not chamber. We are using Lapua...

Leg adjustment screw for Hart base

I recently purchased a Hart base from the classifieds that has a bent leg adjustment screw. Is this something I can pick up from Carr-Lane or McMaster Carr, or do I need to purchase the whole 3 screw set from Hart? Thanks!

    Haverkamp Actions

Don't know if you guys know about Haverkamp actions, but you should. I spent 3 hours at Tom's shop Saturday, and learned alot. He's a great guy, with a lot of knowledge. I'm new to benchrest shooting, and have been turned off by a few people that don't want to give a newbie the time of day...

Brass prep questions from a newbie

I don't use a gage, mainly out of ignorance. I just chamber an empty round, and if it chambers easily, call it good. I do have a Redding bump die, but haven't used it yet since my brass still chambers easily. Will look up the Sinclair's gage tomorrow. Just tumbled 50 pieces of 223 and 50 pieces...

Brass prep questions from a newbie

Jerry & Mike, what type of windflags would you recommend for somebody just getting started? We shoot groups at 100yds off sandbags (just got on the 11 month waiting list for thr SEB Neo rest) at our personal range. I just joined a club where they shoot score at 100, 200, & 300yds. I'm guessing...

Brass prep questions from a newbie

I've definitely noticed a huge weight difference in the Winchester brass. I've been sorting by 1gr. Out of 50pcs, I've got some at 92-92.9gr, 93-93.9gr, 94-94.9gr, and 95-95.9gr. The majority fall into the 93-94.9gr. I did turn for full cleanup, mostly because I'm new to neck turning. I...

Brass prep questions from a newbie

Here is my best 5 shot group at 100yds with this gun and brass setup (older model Remington 700 PSS in .223)... 26gr Varget - 52gr Sierra BTHP - Winchester brass Definitely not a one hole group, but I'm very happy with it for a factory gun. Thinking about bedding he H-S stock to see if I can...

Brass prep questions from a newbie

I've noticed that if I don't neck turn, I shoot my best groups with new brass, and that it goes downhill from there. I'm using a Wilson neck die on the second sizing, and am guessing that my accuracy issues come from neck thicknesses that aren't uniform. When my brass is brand new, I'm using a...

Brass prep questions from a newbie

Interested in hearing your brass prep regimen. On my last lot, I uniformed primer pockets, deburred primer holes with K&M tool, full length sized with Redding die and +0.010" competition shell holder, expanded necks with K&M expand iron, trimmed length, turned necks, inside chamfered with K&M...

    What rest for score shooting?

I'm just getting into score shooting, and would like your opinions on rests. I definitely want windage adjustment, and am leaning towards a coaxial. Anybody using the SEB Neo (11 month wait...) ? Or would a Sinclair's be just as good? What about the Farley? Thanks!

    timming a jewell trigger

I've got a Jewel trigger in an otherwise factory Remington 700. I've noticed that the bolt closes weird - when you start rotating it downward, it catches about halfway through. It's like 2 stages. This is with or without a cartridge. I disassembled the gun today to take a gunsmith for a recrown...

K&M arbor press with force measurement

Anyone using this? Sounds like a good idea, but hoping to hear good reviews before I buy, since I've never got to see one firsthand. I've got their Primer Deluxe and neck turning tools, which are great. Thanks!

    Wilson/Redding neck bushing size

How much under outside neck diameter of a loaded cartridge are you neck sizing? Wilson recommends 0.002-0.003"; Redding says 0.001". We recently sent fired brass from a wildcat chamber to Wilson for them to make a custom die, and the sent a bushing that was 0.005" under.

    Prieming Tool

I recently purchased the K&M Deluxe (with the indicator). It's definitely more time consuming to use as directed, but once you get the hang of it it's not too bad.

RCBS Chargemaster or Harrell’s for powder measurements

Mike, I'm using Varget, Benchmark & IMR-4198 right now. I'm shooting a factory PSS .223 right now, but I want to buy a real BR gun in the future.

RCBS Chargemaster or Harrell’s for powder measurements

I'm new to benchrest shooting, and have been lucky enough to borrow reloading tools up to this point. It's time to buy a powder measure, and would like some guidance. I've used a RCBS Chargemaster and a RCBS Uniflow measure. I feel much more confident with the electronic scale, especially with...
